Ian Poulter switches to Titleist and Footjoy

Ian Poulter is many things to many people.  He's a Ryder Cup hero.  He's the tartan spartan of IJP Design.  He's a hilarious trickster on twitter.  And now Poulter is also Titleist's newest superstar.

Poulter announced on twitter today he'll begin playing Titleist equipment and wearing Footjoy golf shoes in 2015.  His bag will likely include Titleist's new 915 woods, 714 MB and CB irons, and Vokey SM5 wedges.  Poulter already plays the Titleist Pro V1 ball.

Last week Poulter revealed he was leaving Cobra and PUMA after more than eight years with them.  And industry speculation had Poulter going to companies like TaylorMade, Callaway, Wilson, and Srixon.

But it was Titleist who ultimately won the Poulter sweepstakes.  And Poulter now joins a stable of major champions including Adam Scott, Jason Dufner, and Zach Johnson playing Titleist clubs.

It remains to be seen if Poulter continues using his Odyssey putter and IJP Design bag, or if he also makes the switch to a Scotty Cameron putter and a Titleist bag.  Poulter's twitter picture today did not include a putter.

This week promises to be an exciting one for Poulter.  In addition to his new endorsement deal with Titleist, Poulter's new autobiography "No Limits," an inspirational, pick yourself up-by-the-bootstraps success story, comes out Thursday.

And just like Poulter's announcement today may have come as a surprise to some, you can be sure the book will contain even bigger surprises from the always charismatic and controversial Brit.

  1. I believe this was a good match for Poults. I always loved my 690mb's. Titles and Footboy will put him holding the crystal on Sunday.
