Callaway Golf Debuts New XR 16 and XR 16 Pro Drivers and Fairway Woods for 2016

Callaway Golf has announced the release of their new line of XR 16 and XR 16 Pro drivers and fairway woods.  And it's all about redefining what is possible with ball speed and aerodynamics.

The new XR 16 and XR Pro drivers are the second generation of XR woods from Callaway, but don't let the familiar looks fool you.  Callaway teamed up with the aircraft specialists at Boeing to deliver the ultimate in ball speed and forgiveness.

What's New in the Callaway XR 16 Drivers?

Callaway has engineered its most forgiving head shape ever, producing better energy-transfer with the same swing.

  • Re-designed head reduces drag for faster club head speed

  • Larger crown and shallower face moves CG lower and deeper for increased MOI and forgiveness

  • Next generation R MOTO face up to 19-percent thinner for more distance and consistency on mishits

The XR 16 drivers (460cc head) retail at $349.99, and will be available in 9*, 10.5*, and 12.5* HT lofts.  The XR 16 Pro drivers (450cc head) cost $399.99, and will be available in 9* and 10.5* lofts.

The stock shaft will be a Fujikura Speeder Evolution 565 in the standard XR drivers, and a Fujikura Speeder Evolution II Tour Spec 665 in the Pro drivers.

What's New in the Callaway XR 14 Fairway Woods?

The XR 16 fairway woods build on Callaway's category-defining face cup technology, and feature a design that is bigger, hotter, and more forgiving with their lightest crown even for more ball speed and distance.

  • Larger footprint and face size increases MOI and forgiveness on off-center hits
  • Hyper Speed Face Cup Technology wraps around both front of crown and sole to expand spring-like effect across larger area of face
  • 455 carpenter steel stretched to thinnest face in company history for maximum ball speed

The XR 16 fairway woods retail at $229.99, and will be available in 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, and 11 versions.  The XR 16 Pro fairway woods cost $249.99 and will be available in 14*, 16*, and 18* lofts.

The new drivers and woods will be available January 29th.  I'll have tons more for you from the PGA Merchandise Show down in Orlando later this month.
