2016 PGA Merchandise Show DAY 1 RECAP (Part 1 of 4): Opening Ceremony, Titleist & Scotty Cameron, Game Golf & Golf Pride Partnership

If you're a gear geek there's no better place to be in the world than the PGA Merchandise Show.  Thousands of new product launches for four straight days, showcasing drivers, irons, putters, apparel, and everything you can imagine in your craziest Golf Gone Wild dreams.

And I'm bringing you inside the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show with a horde of pictures and videos, starting with this DAY 1 RECAP: Part 1 (a multi-part series).

I'll have similar multi-part recaps for days two and three as well.  And of course my Best of Show, letting you know what new gear and attire stood out as superior within certain categories.

Opening Ceremony
Golf legend Lee Trevino kicked off the opening ceremony, and paid special tribute to PGA Professionals everywhere.

When Trevino finished, I dashed over to the Titleist opening presentation, and watched Jim Nance interview Justin Thomas and his father Mike.  Nance wanted to give Justin a new nickname.  J.T emphatically vetoed the name.

We also had the privilege of viewing some never before seen home video of Justin growing up.  Check out these gem.

Titleist & Scotty Cameron
My first stop at an actual exhibit was the Titleist booth (more like a wing actually).  And of course there was a lot to see.  I had a few early meetings scheduled, so the plan was to return later and take more in then.  Here are some pics of their new caps and headcovers, Vokey SM6 wedges, and Scotty Cameron Select putters and headcovers.

Game Golf & Golf Pride Partnership
It was almost time for lunch already, but not before I broke the news on a trailblazing partnership between Game Golf and Golf Pride.

I was particularly excited about this announcement because golf has become an increasingly data-driven sport.  And this partnership will bring our statistics to life like never before, essentially allowing us to tell a unique story each time we tee it up.  Suffice to say, it's a great time to be a golfer.
