Wilson Golf FG Tour PMP Gap Wedge (Oil Can) Review - PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

The Wilson FG Tour PMP wedge is a club that legitimately gets better with time, like a fine wine.  I've had at least one in my bag for the last two years, and this year almost 20 players on the PGA and European Tours trusted PMP wedges to help them score.

PMP is not a new 2018 release (although Wilson put out a new RAW finish version this year).  But that just goes to show you that sometimes you don't need the newest to have the greatest.  It's sort of like don't fix what isn't broken, and PMP is a wedge that will pretty much do everything you ask of it and more.

The PMP blends classic looks with modern technologies, and is one of the easiest to hit wedges I've played in the last five years.  I wrote a review about them last season, but will hit on a few more points here again since we're giving away the striking Oil Can finish versions this Christmas (yes I said versions, meaning you can look forward to a couple giveaways featuring the PMP).

It's really hard for me to say there's a single feature about the PMP wedges that stands out most, because all the features produce a multitude of benefits that make them one of the best performing and easiest to hit wedges you'll ever play.

Spin is first-rate, simple as that.  And the backspin it produces compares favorably and in many instances better than other wedges on the market.  I've pulled off some great shots from the fairway, rough, and sand with my PMPs, and a big reason for that is the incredible spin they produce.

The wider, sharper groove design grabs a hold of the ball from just about any lie, and full shots produce spin that's nothing short of spectacular.  Laser etched scorelines between the grooves also produce more spin on half and pitch shots, which of course means more control around the green in those delicate situations.

Then there's also the weighting and feel.  I'm not talking about the buttery soft feel you get because PMP is made of 8620 carbon steel.  I'm talking about that undeniable sensation that the club is always on the perfect arc throughout your swing, and your clear awareness of where the head is at all times in your swing.

The PMP is one of my favorite wedges to hit of all time, and I confess I have a few new ones still in reserve for when my current ones wear out.  In fact, if wedge technology and innovation were to never take one single step forward ever again, I wouldn't care as long as I had a stockpile of PMP wedges.

PROS:
Incredibly versatile and easy to hit from a variety of lies
Dazzling spin and remarkable accuracy
KBS High-Rev 2.0 shafts help launch shots quickly and easily, and contribute to abundant spin

CONS:
Forgiveness means not as much feedback as other top-tier wedges on market
