Rory McIlroy WITB What's In The Bag - The Golf Equipment McIlroy Used to Win The PLAYERS Championship

Coming into The PLAYERS Championship, Rory McIlroy's last five starts looked like this:  T4, T5, T4, runner-up, and T6.  The media narrative was Rory lost a step, that he wasn't the same elite player anymore, and that he can't finish.

But McIlroy basically raised the middle finger to that absurdity and won The PLAYERS in brilliant fashion.  Rory led the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green for the week, and shot a 2-under par 70 in tough conditions Sunday at TPC Sawgrass, and made it look like he could be ready to dominate again.

McIlroy finished at 16-under overall, and held off a crowd of Sunday challengers including Jim Furyk, Eddie Pepperell, Jhonttan Vegas, Dustin Johnson, and Tommy Fleetwood.  In doing so, McIlroy became just the sixth player in history to win four major championships and The Players (joining Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Raymond Floyd, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods).

Here are the clubs Rory had in his bag for this historic win.

DRIVER
TaylorMade M5 (9 Degrees), with Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei CK Pro White 70TX shaft

FAIRWAY WOODS
TaylorMade M5 (19 Degrees), with Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei CK Pro White 90TX shaft

IRONS
TaylorMade P790 (2-iron), with True Temper Project X 6.5 shaft; TaylorMade P750 (3-4 irons) and P730 "Rors Proto" (5-9 irons), all with True Temper Project X 7.0 shafts

WEDGES
TaylorMade Milled Grind (48 degrees); TaylorMade Milled Grind Hi-Toe (54 and 60 degrees), all with True Temper Project X 6.5 shafts)

PUTTER
TaylorMade Spider X

BALL
TaylorMade 2019 TP5 (Play Number 22).  Rory plays number 22 because it's the day he married his wife, Erica Stoll, and also because the meaning of the number 22 is powerful, high risk, and high reward.  And according to Rory, "That's sort of everything I am on the golf course so I thought that was appropriate."

No argument here, Rory.
