2019 Galvin Green Lancelot INTERFACE-1 Jacket Review: Superior Performance in Every Condition

I've been testing the new 2019 Galvin Green Lancelot INTERFACE-1 jacket now for almost the entire year.  Played in steady rain, driving winds, cool and warm temps.  Wore it at Pebble Beach, The Olympic Club, and many of my favorite local courses. And this is a jacket that delivers superior performance in every condition.

The Lancelot is Galvin Green's newest half-zip jacket in INTERFACE-1 fabric, and is totally windproof, water repellent, and highly breathable.  It's a jacket that's pretty much going to protect you from all the elements, and with a smooth, soft interior feel it's also the ultimate in comfort.

Galvin Green says the Lancelot is a jacket you can use in 95 of any 100 rounds you play.  And it's absolutely true.  A few rounds I played in winds surpassing 30 mph, and although this isn't technically built for warmth, I stayed completely comfortable and didn't really feel the wind at all.

The INTERFACE-1 fabric is thin, lightweight, and stretchy, which allows it to be used as a layer, so when conditions do get brutally cold, you can still throw on something thermal underneath.  This material also allows for a completely unrestricted swing, which you don't get with bulkier jackets.

When you play in showers, rain drops literally bead up and bounce off the jacket.  Almost like when rain hits a newly waxed car.  If you're one of those players who's anti-rain jacket, the performance and comfort of the Lancelot will definitely change your mind.  In torrential rains I'd still wear a Galvin Green Gore-Tex jacket, but for everything else Lancelot protection is legendary.

Galvin Green apparel are European cut, so the fit is usually on the smaller size.  I've often recommended sizing up for many pieces.  However, the Lancelot fit is true to size and generally form fitting, or what I call a playable fit.  I've worn a thermal layer under the Lancelot and was very comfortable.  If you'd like a looser fit sizing up one would still work, and the drawstring around the waist can give you an even snugger fit.  There are no waist pockets to put your hands in, but it does have a chest pocket for anything else.  Elastic cuff binding is practical, and reflective silver piping at the shoulder gives the overall stylish appearance a bit of attitude.

Lancelot is also extremely breathable.  I've worn it in temps ranging from the high 40s to the mid 70s, and haven't felt too cold or too warm a single time.  It can get pretty muggy during a rainstorm in the Midwest, and too much humidity usually means a hot, sweaty mess.  With the Lancelot I felt as comfortable as you can possibly be in this kind of weather.

Another great thing about the Lancelot is the quality.  You'd expect superior performance technology from the company that outfits the European Ryder Cup team and pioneered the 5-Layer story.  What I was pleasantly surprised about however was how great it holds up after numerous washings.

Throw it in a cold or warm cycle, tumble dry low, and it's as good as new.  No shrinking, no fading, no seams or threads getting loose or worn.  The quality is flat out superior, and I'll be wearing Lancelot for a long, long time.

PROS:
All-weather performance and comfort is in a class of its own
Function, design, and quality are second to none

CONS:
Higher priced than other jackets on the market
Not many color options

And as always, if you have any questions about the Lancelot or any of Galvin Green's other high-tech golf garments, shoot me an email or DM on twitter or Instagram.
