The new Callaway Golf Paradym drivers had a dominating 2023. Paradym won three majors, was #1 in worldwide victories. And the best selling driver of the year? You guessed it, the Paradym.
And for DAY 10 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway, one of you can select any Paradym Driver you want. The standard, the Triple Diamond, the X. Head on over to the Callaway site and pick out a head, shaft, and of course RH and LH are available.
You saw me playing the Paradym drivers (and irons) a lot this year and I reviewed the standard Paradym and Triple Diamond drivers for you. But I'll touch briefly on some similarities and differences again here now to help you make your Paradym shifting choice.
Let's go back to the PGA Show to start. I told you then that Paradym would be one of the longest drivers you ever hit and you'd see a lot of them in bags of players all over the country. And well, I was kind of dead-on there.
I only hit the Paradym X at the PGA Show. My reviews were on the standard Paradym and Paradym Triple Diamond. The X wasn't ideal for me (103 mph swing speed and neutral angle of attack), but for many others it will be. X is going to produce the highest ball speeds over the largest part of the face. And shape-wise it's going to be the deepest front-to-back of all models. This all means X will also be the highest launching and spinning of all models.
In fact, there was a huge difference in peak heights between Paradym X and Paradym Triple Diamond. It was just an eyeball test during Demo Day at the PGA Show but X was peaking a good 25 or 30 feet higher in the air. And X also had the steepest decent angle which means it had the least rollout.
For slow to moderate swing speed players X will give you maximum carry and distance. The X also had a pretty substantial left bias for me on most swings. Even when I tried my best to cut shots X just kept wanting to turn over. If you need help keeping your drives from (slicing) going off the planet right (and especially if you have swing path issues keeping the face square at impact), X is your huckleberry driver.
The standard Paradym and Paradym Triple Diamond however were insanely good for me. I'd hit drives with the standard Paradym and think wow, okay this is definitely it. Then a few swings next time out with Triple Diamond and thought damn, okay for sure it's Triple Diamond. It was a maddening but wholly satisfying back and forth playing both drivers and trying to decide on my favorite.
And let me say straight away anyone who tells you Triple Diamond is unforgiving is full of BS. The standard Paradym and Paradym Triple Diamond were almost identically forgiving for me. Let me explain.
Yes the Triple Diamond launched lower (with heavier weight up front, more on that below), probably averaged about 500-750 rpm less spin than the standard Paradym, and had more rollout. But on misses heel and toe with both of these drivers the respective percentage loss of ball speed, spin, height (and even directional dispersion) was pretty much identical and very minimal for me. That's forgiveness. And that's crazy good and consistent forgiveness with both drivers.
When you talk of the standard Paradym being more forgiving that's really in the sense that it launches easier, higher (not a lot higher, maybe some 10 or 15 feet higher), and it spins more (as mentioned above). And for many players of course this will mean more carry and more distance.
But I'm telling you the exact same kind of misses with both of these drivers retained ball speeds, launch angles and peak heights, distance, and left-to-right dispersion comparatively the same. Choosing between these two drivers is going to come down to how much or less spin and launch benefits your particular swing best.
And maybe the most fascinating thing for me about the standard Paradym and Paradym Triple Diamond was what happened when I moved the heavier Triple Diamond weight from the front (face) to the back. This essentially brought spin, launch, peak height, and even descent to almost identical performance of the standard Paradym.
And I thought this was brilliant because say launch and spin of the standard Paradym is ideal for you. But you prefer the looks of a smaller profile, deeper face driver like Triple Diamond. Well with a little weight adjustment you can have your cake and eat it too.
Feel and sound between Paradym and Paradym Triple Diamond was also pretty much identical. The standard feels slightly more explosive off the face and sounds a tad louder but both feel similarly solid and strong at impact.
The entire Callaway Paradym range of drivers really has something for everyone. No matter how you swing, no matter what your looks preference is, and whatever it is you need most out of your driver. Paradym will get hitting decidedly better and longer drives more often.

ReplyDeleteCallaway is always at or near the top of the heap when it comes to good equipment. Awesome driver.
ReplyDeleteAnother game changing giveaway! Loved reading your reviews on both models. Very interesting about the lack of foregiveness between the standard and TD models. I would probably opt for the standard model due to it giving me more chance for more carry yards. Not a lot roll out typically where I live and play. #JingleBAM
ReplyDeleteI have hit the Paradym driver at a tournament. Although i dont know what model, in one word...amazing! I also love the looks oof it!π
