Titleist Introduces New Golf Ball Fitting App

Titleist introduces the new Golf Ball Fitting App, a comprehensive and efficient way for golfers to find the best Titleist golf ball model for their game. The Trackman-compatible app combines individual golfer information with launch monitor data from 12 representative shots with a half-wedge, full-swing pitching wedge, 7-iron and driver with a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball (or a Pro V1 RCT golf ball for limited flight fittings). The result of each shot is fed into a proprietary algorithm developed by data gathered from thousands of Titleist golf ball fittings – ranging from those of Tour players and club professionals to dedicated amateurs – to deliver a Titleist golf ball recommendation.

“Our goal with the new fitting app is to make golf ball fitting more accessible and convenient,” said Jeremy Stone, Senior Vice President, Golf Ball Marketing and U.S. Sales. “Every day, we see the benefits of golfers finding the right flight, spin and feel for their games, but we also know that selecting the correct model can be difficult without the necessary information or the right process. The Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App gives us the scale to meet more golfers on the fitting tee and provide them an accurate golf ball recommendation that is unique to them.”

The Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App is a tool for fitters to use in helping golfers dial in the best performing ball for their game. Titleist encourages golfers to seek out their local PGA Professional, authorized retail fitter or Trackman-operational facility to inquire about and experience the Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App.

GOLF BALL FITTING APP EXPERIENCE

A fitting using the Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App can be completed in as little as 15 minutes. The process begins with the golfer answering questions regarding course conditions, playing style and golf ball preferences preceding the hitting session. The fitter conducting the session will ask the golfer about their current golf ball choice, handicap, typical green firmness, preferred golf ball feel, preferred trajectory window and more.

After providing the initial information, golfers then hit three of each of the following shots: half-swing wedge, full-swing pitching wedge, 7-iron and driver. Shots that are not representative of the golfer’s typical playing style or usual mishits can be discarded and re-hit. The process puts particular emphasis on the golfer's scoring shots, with the knowledge that every Titleist golf ball can achieve maximum distance off the tee with a proper driver fitting. The launch monitor data from the 12 shots is then combined with the information gathered at the beginning of the fitting and run through the Titleist Golf Ball Fitting App’s proprietary algorithm. The result is a personalized recommendation provided to the golfer between the following Titleist golf ball models: Pro V1, Pro V1x, Pro V1x Left Dash and AVX.

TITLEIST GOLF BALL MODELS

While Titleist Pro V1, Pro V1x, Pro V1x Left Dash and AVX golf balls all provide golfers with best-in-class performance and quality, there are key performance differences between models that are relevant when considering which ball is the best fit for your game.

Each golf ball is differentiated based upon flight, spin, and feel. Pro V1 offers the best combination of speed, spin and feel in the game, delivering mid-flight trajectory, very high short game spin and a soft feel. Compared to Pro V1, Pro V1x flies higher, spins more in the long game, and feels firmer. Pro V1x Left Dash will have a high flight, similar to Pro V1x, with significantly lower full swing spin and a firmer feel. AVX flies lower than Pro V1, and it spins less in the long game with an even softer feel.

GOLF BALL FITTING AND SELECTION OPTIONS

In addition to the new Golf Ball Fitting App, Titleist offers several other industry-leading ways for players to find the proper golf ball model for their game. Other Titleist golf ball fitting, selection and education options include tour-level golf ball fittings, virtual golf ball consultations and the Titleist.com online golf ball selector tool.

Tour-level fitting: The most thorough and comprehensive option for golf ball fitting. This session involves on-course testing with a Titleist fitting expert where the golfer hits a variety of shots with several different clubs. The data is recorded by a launch monitor and reviewed by the fitting expert with the golfer to determine which Titleist golf ball performs best for their game.

Virtual consult: A live 1-on-1 video chat with a Titleist fitting expert which mirrors the same conversations happening at in-person fitting events. Golfers seeking additional information regarding in-person golf ball fitting opportunities can learn more through a virtual consult as well. Schedule a consultation here

Golf ball selector: A series of questions about the golfer's game, course conditions, golf ball preferences and more provides a primary golf ball recommendation and an alternative recommendation. Experience the selector tool here
