New 2025 Wilson Golf Custom Built Set of Irons (Choose Wilson Staff Model Blades or Wilson Staff Model CB or Wilson DYNAPWR Forged): 2025 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway DAY 6

Wilson Golf is one of the most storied legacies in the golf industry.  They began making clubs in 1914 and Gene Sarazen, one of the all-time greats was the first member of the Wilson Advisory Staff.  Wilson dominated on Tour for nearly half a century with over 60 major titles.  And their global innovation is the stuff of legends.  So when I tell you in 2025 Wilson put out the best line of irons they have in their entire history I don't say this lightly.

I do say this however because in DAY 6 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas one of you is going to win a custom built full set of 2025 Wilson Staff Model Blades, a custom built set of 2025 Wilson Staff Model CB irons, or a custom built set of Wilson DYNAPWR Forged irons.  You decide whatever model irons you want.  Right handed or left handed.  Just head over to the Custom Golf Clubs section on the Wilson site and start building your new set of Wilson irons!

My favorite Wilson irons this year (and favorite Wilson irons ever) were the 2025 Wilson Staff Model blades and I'll tell you a lot about those below.  However I'll also share some things about the 2025 Staff Model CBs and DYNAPWR Forged so you can get an idea of how these three models are different and also help you decide what irons are best for you.

I'm going to go heavy on the comparison between the Wilson Staff Model blades and Wilson Staff Model CBs in the first section as they're the two most similar irons in terms of appearance and even performance.  And then in the following section I'll compare the Staff Model CBs with the DYNAPWR Forged as these two irons have distance and forgiveness characteristics that will appeal to a lot of players as well.  As I've done through this 12 DAYS, think of this as a mini-comparative review for Kringle purposes.

2025 Wilson Staff Model Blades vs. 2025 Wilson Staff Model CB Irons

Great blades hit targets other blades can’t.  And the Wilson Staff Model Blades  hit targets other blades can’t even imagine.  These Staff Model Blades are definitely the most playable blades I’ve ever hit.  And I actually put better strikes on these (and found center more often) than with both the Staff Model CB and Dynapower Forged.

The Staff Model blades gave me maybe 1-2 mph less ball speed than Staff Model CB irons (but still healthy 160+ carry with 7-iron, 86, 87 mph SS).  The blades also have steeper descent and more spin for me than the CB irons (CB tad higher peak heights).

Maybe the craziest thing to me about the Wilson Staff Model blades is how well these perform on misses.  Straight up, if you like the looks and feel of blades the Staff Model blades have forgiveness like no blades I’ve ever hit.  On misses low (like second groove low) I only lose 5-6 yards with a launch and descent that's nearly identical to center strikes.  I kid you not.  And these same misses with the Staff Model CBs?  Even better results.

On misses out towards the toe with the Staff Model blades (and nearly outside the scoring lines) distance loss is again marginal (more like 6-7 yards).  Descent is a tad lower than center strikes here but very similar as well.  It's absolutely amazing to me that on these misses (as well as misses low mentioned above) you get so much consistency of launch and launch with a similarity to center strikes.  These are just incredibly exceptional blades.  And yes there's a theme or pattern developing here if you noticed.  The Staff Model CB blades have even better low miss and toe miss performance.  I chalk that up to the CBs having a larger face and proportionately larger sweet spot.

On heel misses the Staff Model blades perform the worst (of all three irons) but I still totally loved the results with these misses.  Distance loss is more like 8-10 yards off the heel.  But there's only a tad less descent than with pure strikes and even then these heel misses don't even remotely come in shallow.  Heel misses remain plenty steep with great stopping power.

Overall I’d say misses low, toe, and heel with the Wilson Staff Model blades have better decent angles than good shots hit with Game-Improvement irons.  Kinda crazy right?  Yes more traditional blade lofts have something to do with that of course. But the consistency and tightness of all misses with the Staff Model blades are flat-out exceptional.

Dispersion on misses with the Wilson Staff Model blades was also remarkably excellent.  In terms of shots holding their line, both center strikes and misses low track targets (dispersion) almost identically.  There’s more right movement on misses hit on the heel and toe but it’s not massive and doesn’t create unplayable slices.  If you’re aiming center green misses on the toe maybe leak to the edge of the green.  While misses on the heel stay inside of that.  And I should mention when I'm talking about these misses I’m still square or relatively square into impact so not really talking here about crazy over the top paths.

Overall the new Wilson Staff Model Blades are truly amazing.  For anyone who grew up playing blades or simply prefer their look and feel today, Wilson had designed these so you don’t have to be a ball striking machine to play these and play them well.  I'm incredibly impressed with the blades.  At the same time you are getting added forgiveness with the Wilson Staff Model CBs and more ball speed/distance as well.

The CBs subtle perimeter weighting makes them more stable and less likely to open when hit out towards the toe.  The CBs also launch a bit easier than the blades and surprisingly spin a few hundred RPM more than the blades.  As mentioned in the beginning however, I just hit a lot of great shots with the blade and for me and to my eye they're simply more confidence inspiring.

2025 Wilson Staff Model CB Irons vs. 2025 Wilson DYNAPWR Forged Irons

To me the biggest difference between the Wilson Staff Model CBs and DYNAPWR Forged irons is forgiveness, distance, and launch.

The Staff Model CBs have a great level of forgiveness for cavity back irons, but forgiveness is specifically engineered into the DYNAPWR Forged irons.  Think of DYNAPWR Forged forgiveness as the next level up of over the CBs and also over a larger area of the face.  They let you get away with more for different kinds of misses.

I also found when I slowed my swing down DYNAPWR Forged performed better than the Staff Model CBs in getting those thinned shots up in air.  And extreme low strike ball speeds with DYNAPWR Forged dropped the least of all three irons with very little distance loss.  And that's the whole point of DYNAPWR Forged.  More distance maintained even when you miss all over.  DYNAPOWER Forged is also more stable than the CBs and really more cavity back as well.

If you're looking at distance above all else just stop right here at DYNAPWR Forged.  They're one full club length longer than the Staff Model CBs and I wouldn't be surprised to see them upwards of 15 yards longer for slower swing speeds.  DYNAPWR Forged are players-distance irons so you expect them to be long.  But these are as far-as-the-eye-can-see long.  Just WOW.  Stronger lofts yes, but at same time comparable to other brand players-distance irons.  The CBs fly about five feet higher than DYNAPWR Forged (and the Staff Model blades just a tad higher than the CBs).

I did tend to overcook shots more with DYNAPWR Forged than the Staff Model CBs.  I attribute this more left-biased miss to the tad bit more offset with DYNAPWR Forged.  But DYNAPWR dispersion held its own with both Staff Model irons.  The CBs have slightly better (tighter) left-to-right dispersion than the DYNAPWR Forged, but DYNAPWR Forged downrange dispersion was within three yards of the CBs downrange dispersion.  And that's pretty remarkable for a players-distance iron that generates more ball speed.

DYNAPWR Forged feel is soft and solid but not quite as soft as the Staff Model CBs and just a tad clicker.  With that said the DYNAPWR feel is still what I'd call a refined forged feel.  Being a distance-centric irons it's just a more subdued soft and feel.

And a quick word on spin you'll probably going to see in the neighborhood of 800 RPM more spin with the CBs.  So you get more stopping power with the CBs.  But as mentioned above DYNAPWR Forged are peaking just about five feat lower than the CBs so you're still coming into greens with steep descents.  Spin consistency was better for me with the Staff Model CBs, but surprisingly DYNAPWR Forged had better launch and height consistency.

Final Thoughts on All 2025 Wilson Staff Model Irons

So what Wilson Golf irons are you going to choose?  If you're a glory days purist the Staff Model Blades prioritize precision and traditional appearance while offering a level of forgiveness you might have never experienced in blades.  If you still want that uniquely Wilson forged feel and classic looks but could use some extra help in the distance department without sacrificing control the Staff Model CBs are your huckleberry.  And if you just tend to find middle of the face less often than you'd like then DYNAPWR Forged is a modern take on the players-distance iron giving you extremely consistent ball speeds all over the face while prioritizing forgiveness without being a large game-improvement style of head.

  18. All 3 models look and sound incredible. Wilson Staff brings back so many found memories from my much younger years. I played staff blades for about 20 years between the ages of 15 and 35. No chance I have the skill or desire to play blades any longer so thankfully there are two other amazing models to choose from. Thank you for the opportunity!
