PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas JingleBAM DAY 8 Golf Giveaway: New 2026 Graphite Design Tour AD FI Driver Shaft

A lot of you notice I play a small handful of shafts in almost all of my woods and drivers.  One of them being the Graphite Design Tour AD DI shaft.  So I was excited when Graphite Designe released their newest Tour AD, the Tour AD FI only a few months ago.  And of course you know I hit it.  But can it replace the AD DI as my go-to Graphite Design shaft?  Maaaybee...?!

Suffice to say it was better than I expected.  So much so that I know for a fact it will be a go-to for a lot of players.  So for my JingleBAM DAY 8 giveaway in my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas let's get one of you into the new Tour AD FI.  Any weight and flex.  If you like I'll even see if we can get an adaptor put on it for the driver you're playing.  And heck let's also see if we can get a Graphite Design cap thrown in as well.

I'm going to tell you about the new Graphite Design Tour AD FI shaft by comparing it to my Tour AD DI (and a lot of you have experience with AD DI for context).  Special thanks to Club Champion for letting me come in for some testing numbers.  This Kringle mini-review will summarily cover ball speed, direction, launch and spin, and feel comparisons.  You can read about all the AD FI specs and technology on the Graphite Design site here.

Tour AD FI vs. Tour AD DI Ball Speed

Ball speed comparison was interesting on a number of fronts.  First, my Graphite Design Tour AD DI remained king for average ball speed.  But the Tour AD FI ball speed was closer to AD DI than any other Tour AD shaft I've played (including the AD UB and AD VF).  Take away the outliers and ball speed averages were within 1 mph of each other.  Where things got really interesting however was I actually had higher best ball speeds with AD FI over AD DI.  And that made it compelling enough for me to give AD FI an even closer look next season.

Tour AD FI vs. Tour AD DI Direction

I did have a few more outliers (a gentle way of saying ugly shots) with the Graphite Design Tour AD FI than I did with Tour AD DI, but I attribute that to spending an hour with AD FI versus spending five years with AD DI.  With that said however again, when my fitter took away the ugly ones?  Dispersion and direction was almost identical (both left-to-right and downrange).  Both AD FI and  AD DI have a strong tendency to start and stay center for me and neither were left or right biased for my swing.  This was a bit interesting as the AD FI has stiffer mid and butt sections.

Tour AD FI vs. Tour AD DI Launch and Spin

Launch and spin produced the biggest differences between Graphite Design Tour AD FI and Tour AD DI for me than in any of the other categories we're covering.  And the first one caught me off guard.  AD FI is designed to have low/mid spin while AD DI is designed to have low to low/mid spin.  So I was expecting a little more spin with AD FI.  And yet instead I averaged almost 200+ RPM less spin with AD FI compared to AD DI.  My fitter had no explanation either.  Launch results however did fit inside the expected profile differences.  AD FI launched just a tad lower than AD DI and peak heights were about 10 feel lower with AD FI versus AD DI.

Tour AD FI vs. Tour AD DI Feel

I think if you like the feel of the Graphite Design Tour AD DI you'll also like the feel of the Tour AD FI.  I'd call both shafts smooth feeling but AD FI has a more compact kick feel to it while AD DI has a more active kick feel to it.  Both are powerful and lively feeling so it's kind of hard to explain.  Maybe think about AD DI like 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey while AD FI is like Eagles RB Saquon Barkley.  Don't know if that helps perceive/visualize the difference but that's what came to mind as I'm writing this.

  2. This one sounds like a lot of fun Pete! I've never had a Graphite Design Tour AD shaft, which is kind of surprising as much as I like to tinker with shafts. The Tour AD FI sounds like a great one to put in some time with, your description of it's performance sounds like one that might really work for me.
