The States Most Stoked For Happy Gilmore 2

After months of speculation, It has been announced by Netflix that Happy Gilmore, the comedy classic, is set to return for a sequel in the near future.

Adam Sandler is confirmed to reprise the titular character, an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers he has a talent for golf and competes in a tournament to raise money and save his grandmother's house.

Happy Gilmore, which was first released in the U.S. in 1996, has gone on to be one of Sandler's most popular films and most recognizable roles so news of the announcement has fans of the cult movie rejoicing at the fact it will now be returning nearly 30 years later.

While the plot for the sequel, 'Happy Gilmore 2', is still being kept under wraps, the data team at Gambling.com decided to crunch the numbers and identify which 'states are most stoked for Happy Gilmore 2' by analyzing Google Trends scores for the top Happy Gilmore search term in 2024, before ranking the Top 10 States.



North Dakota ranked #1 in the study with a maximum Google Trends score of 100, trumping 2nd place Nebraska in runner up with a score of 80. New Hampshire made the podium in 3rd with a total score of 77.

South Dakota and Wisconsin made up the top 5 with scores of 70 and 64 respectively.

Methodology


In order to work out the ‘States Most Stoked For Happy Gilmore 2’, Gambling.com did the following:


  • Identified the top keyword- by search volume- relating to search terms for Happy Gilmore 2

  • Compiled Google Trends scores for each keyword in all 50 U.S. States- from the past 90 days.

  • Ranked States from top to bottom for a Top 10 list.

  • All data collected and correct on 05/16/2024.
