Titleist Players 4 Golf Stand Bag Review - PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

I used to be that dude who had to play with a staff bag because well, I thought it looked insanely cool.  And then the day came when I played a course that only allowed walking, and lugging around that full size bag over my shoulder made me realize I'm definitely not Kratos from Gods of War.  It was time for a stand bag. 

 

The Titleist Players 4 checked off all the boxes in what I was looking for in a stand bag.  It was lightweight, and turned out to be season long durable.  It had plenty of pocket space (and you'd be surprised how many companies miss the boat on this one), giving it ample storage room.  And most importantly, it was very comfortable to carry.  Overall, you'll be hard pressed to find a stand bag that's better looking or more functional than the Players 4. 

At a little over 4 pounds, the Players 4 is one of the lightest bags you'll ever use. Don't mistake this extremely light weight however for a lack of durability.  I confess to being a little rough with it at times when I lost my temper after hitting a few bad shots.  I've also had it fall out of the back of the golf cart when my driving was a bit too ambitious.  My Players 4 held up on both accounts, and is clearly quality construction. 

 

 

With four pockets, the Players 4 has fewer pockets than other bags on the market, but I can tell you they're about as spacious as you'll ever need.  And one pocket is also felt lined for your sunglasses or phone.  The golf bag nerd in me took measurements of pockets from different companies and the Players 4 won points here too. 

 

It's kind of crazy that some companies still don't realize how important pocket size is.  Just one less inch of depth or width and you might be losing golf balls, or worse, rangefinders, wallets and other valuables.  Titleist knows that size matters. 

Comfort is what really sold me on the Players 4 however.  In combination with the light weight, Titleist's strap system and padding actually made me prefer walking to riding this season (the padding feels like some sort of waffle massage construction). 

 

 

 

If you're not already familiar with Titleist's strap system, it's basically a convertible strap that lets you choose between a single strap shoulder option and double strap back harness.  You can also quickly change between the two preferences.  It's truly a great feature. 

The bag design uses full-length dividers and a four-way top so your clubs sit cleanly in your bag.  No getting stuck or jumbled taking them out or putting them in.  A hinged base design along with strong wide legs makes the bag more stable and less likely to slip or fall.  Basically Titleist looked at every aspect of a stand bag and maxed out performance so you can just focus on playing the game. 

Obviously there's never going to be one bag that everyone thinks is end-all perfect.  But if you try the Players 4 I'm pretty sure you'll agree with me that it's one of the best stand bags on the market today.

The strap system might be considered over-engineering by minimalists or traditionalists
