FootJoy Pro SL and Pro SL Carbon Golf Shoes Review: 2020 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway DAY 3

FootJoy clearly never rests until their better is best, and refined changes to the Pro SL line of shoes in 2020 resulted in two different models that delivered big on performance and comfort.

I've reviewed the Pro SL and Pro SL Carbon for you guys here and on twitter and Instagram this year.  And like we've been doing for all these 12 Days, I'm going to hit on some review highlights to help you choose between the two.  You'll be able to choose either shoe in whatever color you want (that's in stock).

Let's start with the Pro SL.  It has 21 more traction than the previous model (yes, I counted), and greater stability from a slightly wider outsole (particularly in the heel).  You also feel closer to the ground (like your foot goes deeper into the shoe), and there's more toe wiggle room than previous models.

 

Pro SL also has a more cushioned feel than previous models, but also a more stable feel (especially in the forefoot).  That was a surprise for me because the 2020 Pro SL isn't as tight fitting in the midsole, yet somehow the forefoot feels more secure.  Whatever it is you're doing FootJoy, just keep doing it.

Pro SL Carbon is an enhanced stability version of Pro SL with a carbon midsole inlay.  But comfort remained incredible, and I actually thought Pro SL Carbon set the standard for comfort in the Pro SL line.

 

There's an ortholite insole (which molds to your foot like the Fury insole) and even more cushioned heel compared to Pro SL that stood out from the word go.  Traction (as with Pro SL) in both damp sand and wet fairways was fantastic.  No nonsense looks with both models is strong and purposeful.

It's sometimes said the highest compliment you can give golf shoes is you forget you're even wearing them.  But I was completely aware how satisfying and comfortable Pro SL and Pro SL Carbon are every time I played in them.
