Adidas TOUR360 XT SL Textile Golf Shoes Review: 2020 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway DAY 10

When Adidas launched the Tour360 XT SL golf shoes last year, it was the first time this model was released in a spikeless version.  And quite frankly it exceeded expectations of what I expect in a spikeless golf shoe.  So when Adidas announced the new Tour360 XT SL Textile this year, I had to wonder how they could have possibly improved on the original.

And they did.  Tour 360 XT SL Textile doesn't have wholesale changes from the original (which is a good thing).  But the small changes Adidas did make resulted in notable improvement in both breathability and feel, and even to some extent stability.  One of you will win your very own pair of Tour360 XT SL Textile in Day 10 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway.  And you can choose whatever color and style you want here.

First I'll touch on what remains the same.  And that starts with the X-Traction lugs.  These are a series of "X" and "V" shaped lugs (of varying heights) on the outsole 'strategically patterned for maximum and efficient contact points with the ground.

 

Lugs are longer in places like the outside of your foot for greater lateral support.  And they're shorter (and curved) in other places like the toe area to encourage good footwork and forward rotation.  On faster swings off the tee and more controlled shots around the green, they keep you grounded and pretty much blur the line between spiked and spikeless golf shoes.

One of the obvious changes in the Tour 360 XT SL Textile is the material used (textile as opposed to leather).  And these are every bit as waterproof as the originals.  In fact, it's sort of a cooler waterproof protection because rain just beads up and repels off.

 

Okay so you might be thinking, "Pete, they're as waterproof as the originals, so what's the added benefit besides looking cooler?  Well the Tour360 XT SL Textile is also more breathable.  I thought the originals did a fine job of letting heat escape, but Textile just does a better job, plain and simple. 

 

The Tour360 XT SL Textile also have a slightly different feel because of the material, and the increased wiggle room you have in the toe area will be welcome for anyone who thought the originals might have been too snug fitting.  Meanwhile in the back, the heel rises a little extra comfort and stability.

 

What I found most interesting about the TOUR360 XT SL Textile (and there's nothing on Adidas website about this), is the feel.  The Textile clearly feel like they have a thicker soft molded cushion all around the foot.  The mid-sole cushion feels almost identical with the original.  But everywhere else (the top of the foot and all around the foot) Textile feels more padded, more cushioned, and more molded to my feet.  There's no denying this feel. 

 

And related to that, the leather of the original TOUR360 XT SL feels more structured than the Textile, yet somehow the Textile feels just as (and maybe more) stable than the original.  All around the foot Tour360 XT SL Textile feels more secure, and honestly it's really wild to me because looking at the thickness of the original and Textile I really can't really perceive any obvious thickness differences.

 

With traction as good as ever, a more locked-in, secure stability, and comfort that's been enhanced pretty much all over, Tour360 XT SL Textile takes the legendary status of Adidas flagship golf shoes to even greater heights.
