Titleist Pro V1, Pro V1x, AVX Balls Review: 2020 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway DAY 1

Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the sexy names in Titleist's ball line-up, but the AVX is every bit as much a ball without compromise designed to lower your scores.

I've reviewed all three balls for you guys here and on twitter and Instagram this year, but since one of you is getting two dozen of these in DAY 1 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway, I thought I'd help you choose by hitting some of the key differences among them.

Pro V1, Pro V1x, and AVX are all designed to optimize performance for your different, unique games.  AVX is the softest feeling ball of the three from tee to green.  Pro V1x the firmest feeling (although I'd still call this a soft feeling golf ball, particularly around the greens).  And Pro V1 is somewhere in between.

When you're choosing between these balls, trajectory difference is the first you'll immediately notice.  Pro V1x gives you the highest trajectory, and would be a great ball for players who launch too low and lose out on maximum carry distance.

On the other side of the trajectory spectrum is the AVX.  It gives you the lowest trajectory of all three balls, but still a very penetrating flight.  If you hit shots too high or with too much spin, AVX could be the longest most consistent ball of the three.  Meanwhile Pro V1 will hit launch windows somewhere between the higher launching Pro V1x and lower launching AVX.

As you're probably starting to realize, Pro V1x and AVX are on opposite ends of the ball characteristics spectrum, with Pro V1 in the middle to fit most golfers.  And the same holds true with spin.  Pro V1x spins the most off the tee and with long irons, while AVX spins the least with those same clubs.  Pro V1 falls between the two.

One of the great things about the generally low spinning AVX however is it doesn't sacrifice control around the green.  Perhaps if you're an elite player or ball striker you'll notice marginally less spin in your wedges, but for my game AVX has plenty of stopping power and spin on approach and short game shots.

Now let's move on to a little bit about the Tour Performance Knit Pom Pom Winter Hat and Tour Elite Staff Cap because you'll also be able to choose one of these in my DAY 1 giveaway as well.

The pom pom hat has great stretch and a snug fit.  It's also lined with microfleece for added comfort and warmth.  The Tour Elite Staff caps are the actual ones worn on Tour.  It's a stretch fit with moisture wicking and temperature regulating front panel and sweatband.  Quite frankly these are the best caps Titleist makes.
