122nd U.S. Open Championship - Texas Final Qualifying

The U.S. Open final qualifying at Lakewood Country Club and Royal Oaks Country Club will take place on on Monday, May 23. Final qualifying will also take place on Monday, June 6 (nine sites, including eight in the U.S. and one in Canada).

The 2022 U.S. Open Championship will be contested from June 16-19 at The Country Club’s Open Course, in Brookline, Mass.

2022 Ben Hogan Award Winner to be Revealed Monday at Colonial Country Club

The Hogan Trophy Award Foundation, Friends of Golf (FOG) and Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) are pleased to present the three Finalists for the 2022 Ben Hogan Award presented by PNC Bank. The three Finalists, listed in alphabetical order, are: Texas Tech’s Ludvig Aberg, Sam Bennett of Texas A&M and Oklahoma State’s Eugenio Chacarra.

The Finalists will attend a black-tie dinner Monday, May 23, at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, where the winner will be crowned. The winner will receive an exemption into the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge, played annually at Colonial.

Tickets on Sale for 2022 U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship at NCR Country Club

Tickets for the 4th U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship are now available for purchase. The championship, conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), will be held in the state of Ohio for the first time at historic NCR Country Club in Kettering, from Aug. 25-28, 2022.

Fans will have the opportunity to experience all four championship rounds by purchasing good-any-one-day Gallery tickets, which are available as a single ticket option for $30 or as a two-pack for $50. The good-any-one-day ticket provides fans with the flexibility to attend the championship at their leisure and includes the opportunity to purchase food and beverages as well as complimentary parking. Juniors (age 18 and under) will receive free admission with a ticketed adult.

Pasatiempo Golf Club Unveils Plans to Restore Greens and Bunkers on Iconic Alister MacKenzie Course

The Pasatiempo Golf Club has announced, based on a Shareholder vote, plans to restore the original “push up” greens complexes and restore bunkers using modern construction methods. Located in Santa Cruz, California, the world-famous course was designed by Alister MacKenzie in 1929.

During the restoration, scheduled to begin in April 2023 and be completed in December 2024, the greens complexes and bunkers will be restored to resemble Alister MacKenzie’s original design, and intent, of the golf course.

LIV Golf Announces Franchise and Player Relations Leadership Team

LIV Golf has announced it has appointed two sport industry veterans in Matt Goodman as President of Franchises and Laurence Miller as Vice President, Head of Franchise Operations. U.S. Adaptive Open Set to Welcome a Global Field to Pinehurst in July

The full field for the inaugural U.S. Adaptive Open – a new national championship that will showcase the world’s best golfers with disabilities on Pinehurst Resort & Country Club’s Course No. 6 from July 18-20 – has been set by the USGA.

The USGA received 299 entries for the 2022 U.S. Adaptive Open’s 96-player field, and the field includes competitors from 29 states and 12 countries, including five competitors from North Carolina. The championship’s youngest competitor is 15-year-old Sophia Howard from Hudsonville, Mich. Judith Brush, 80, of Alexandria, Va., is the championship's oldest player.

Wilfong, Womble Rally to Claim Four-Ball Title in Birmingham

There is no more medalist jinx in the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. A pair of Wake Forest alums, Chad Wilfong and Davis Womble, became the first side to medal in stroke play and go on to win the championship with a dramatic, come-from-behind, 19-hole victory over Drew Kittleson and Drew Stoltz on the West Course of the Country Club of Birmingham.

It was the second consecutive year that the championship match was decided in extra holes.

Alternates Kittleson, Stoltz Among Semifinalists in Birmingham

Seven days ago, Drew Stoltz was preparing to fly to the PGA Championship in Tulsa, Okla., to host his SiriusXM Radio show, and Drew Kittleson was scheduled to be in Austin, Texas, for business. But one phone call from the USGA changed their itineraries, and on Wednesday, their lives could significantly change as well.

The two last-minute alternates from Scottsdale, Ariz., have taken full advantage of their unexpected entry in the 7th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at the Country Club of Birmingham. Kittleson, 33, and Stoltz, 37, won two more matches Tuesday on the West Course, including a dramatic 1-up quarterfinal win over co-medalists and top seeds Torey Edwards and Bret Parker, to put them two wins away from a national championship.

Thrice as Nice: Medalists Roll into Round of 16 in Birmingham

Being the medalist in a USGA championship can sometimes add a burden of expectations. The common belief is that the great performances from stroke play will continue in match play. But as most golfers at the elite level fully understand, match play can be fickle.

Going Low: Trio of Medalists Shoot 128 in Birmingham

Go low or go home. That’s a motto often heard at PGA Tour events, but it also applies for the 7th U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at the Country Club of Birmingham.

Following 36 holes of stroke play on the club’s East and West courses, a score of 8-under-par 133 was required to qualify for match play, a championship record by two shots. In all, 95 of the 128 sides posted under-par totals for 36 holes.
