The Real McCoy: Historic USGA Double for Iowa Legend

The Frederick L. Dold Trophy may well be heading to one of golf’s most storied stages. Michael McCoy, one of just 29 men to ever captain the USA Walker Cup Team, claimed the 70th U.S. Senior Amateur Championship on Thursday at Oak Hills Country Club, defeating Greg Sanders, 3 and 2, in the 18-hole final to etch his name into history as the first player to capture both the U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Senior Amateur titles.

His victory comes just days before he and a host of fellow Walker Cup alumni make their way to Cypress Point Club, in Pebble Beach, Calif., where the 50th Walker Cup Match will be contested on Sept. 6-7.

Harbor Shores Announces Opening of the Wee Course

Harbor Shores, the Lake Michigan shoreline golf destination with its Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course, announces the opening of its next golf attraction, the Wee Course.

This new short pitch-and-putt course, designed by Hall of Fame golfer and 2014 and 2015 KitchenAid Senior PGA Champion, Colin Montgomerie, will open for limited preview play Labor Day weekend. Kids will play for free, and youth programming will be a priority.

El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif. will unveil its newly renovated golf course to members on Monday, September 1st following a four-month, multi-million-dollar renovation project.

Keegan Bradley Announces Six Captains Picks for 2025 Ryder Cup

United States Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley today announced Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Ben Griffin, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Cameron Young as his six captain’s picks for the 2025 United States Ryder Cup Team. The 45th Ryder Cup will take place September 23-28 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.

Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau qualified via points, which concluded on August 17.

U.S. Senior Women’s Open Crown Marks Historic First for Wales’ Becky Morgan

The roller coaster ride across San Diego Country Club in Sunday’s final round of the 7th U.S. Senior Women’s Open mimicked the moguls that characterize the fairways. And when the up-and-down journey for all the contenders ended, Becky Morgan became the first player from Wales to win a USGA championship.

There was no such thing as a clean scorecard on this demanding day. The key was to bounce back from mistakes. And Morgan did that brilliantly, erasing two bogeys with five birdies and several key par-saving putts for a closing-round 70 to finish 72 holes at 7-under-par 285 for a dominant six-stroke victory over five-time USGA champion Juli Inkster, who earned a runner-up finish in this event for the third time.
