Clark Takes Wind out of Shinnecock Hills and Leads Suspended Opening Round by Four

Going into Thursday’s opening round of the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, all the talk was about the expected high winds that were going to whip through the eastern end of Long Island.

Then Mother Nature threw in a curveball.

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is hosting the U.S. Open for the sixth time, having previously hosted in 1896, 1986, 1995, 2004, and 2018. In addition, it has hosted a U.S. Amateur (1896), U.S. Women’s Amateur (1900), a U.S. Senior Amateur (1967) and a Walker Cup (1977).

Most U.S. Opens hosted: Oakmont CC (10, most recently in 2025), Baltusrol GC (7, most recently in 1993), Shinnecock Hills GC (6, including this year), Oakland Hills CC (6, most recently in 1996), Pebble Beach GL (6, most recently in 2019) and Winged Foot GC (6, most recently in 2020).

USGA Announces Tee Times for 126th U.S. Open Championship

The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced tee times for the first two rounds of the 2026 U.S. Open Championship, Thursday (June 18) and Friday (June 19). 

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club will be set up at 7,440 yards and play to a par of 35-35—70.

Hollywood Ending for World No. 1 Korda at Riviera

World No. 1 Nelly Korda captured the 81st U.S. Women's Open Presented by Ally by a single stroke on Sunday at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., closing with a 2-under-par 69 for a 72-hole total of 8-under 276.

A year after tying for second at Erin Hills, the 27-year-old from Bradenton, Fla., captured her first USGA title. Korda took the outright lead for the first time with a 9-foot birdie on the par-5 17th, then holed a 3-foot par putt on the 72nd hole to edge Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez. The victory was the 19th of Korda's LPGA career and gave her the first two majors of 2026, lifting her to four major titles overall.

New Mom Alison Lee, Yin Top Crowded 36-Hole Leaderboard at Riviera

A tightly packed leaderboard emerged through 36 holes of the 81st U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally, with Alison Lee and Ruoning Yin sharing the lead at 4-under-par 138 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

 

Lee, competing on a deferred maternity leave exemption after the birth of her son, Levi, 13 months ago, followed an opening-round 70 with a 3-under 68. Yin, the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA champion, posted a second consecutive 69.

Kupcho Fires 66 for First-Round Lead at Riviera

Jennifer Kupcho carded a 5-under-par 66 on Thursday to take the first-round lead at the 81st U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

 

Kupcho, a four-time LPGA Tour winner and 2022 Chevron Championship winner, opened with three consecutive birdies and added a near-ace on the par-3 16th to finish one stroke ahead of 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA champion Sei Young Kim.
