Wilson Staff Launch Pad Driver Review: 2020 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway DAY 7

The Wilson Staff Launch Pad driver is like a straighter more forgiving D7.  I've reviewed both of these drivers (along with the irons) this year, and this was one of the best in the game-improvement category.

Wilson does lightweight and easy to hit drivers as good (maybe even better) than anyone, and Launch Pad is their finest effort.  The face feels hotter than D7, and with even more forgiveness across a wider hitting area.  Compared to D7, Launch Pad spins less, has more offset, and does a great job closing the face.

Launch Pad definitely targets players with slice tendencies, as well as those who could benefit from or pick up more MPH from a light overall weight.  And forgiveness is fantastic.  Definitely a driver for anyone who doesn't hit center consistently.

 

For a game improvement driver looks are clean, simple, and smart.  The sound is higher pitched (but not shrill), more like Ping drivers than say the muted thwack of Callaway drivers.  This of course all comes down to personal preference.

 

I saw consistently straight to left of center drives with Launch Pad, showing me the design and tech genuinely works, and flight was high and long.  If you're generally a low HC, high SS player (say over 100 mph), the stock UST Mamiya Helium in regular flex (which is what I tested and played), might result in drives that fly too high.  For a majority of golfers however Launch Pad will help you play better and enjoy the game more.
