PGA Tour Player Jake Knapp Joins Original Penguin Staff

Original Penguin Golf, a division of Perry Ellis International, is excited to announce the signing of PGA TOUR player Jake Knapp as its newest brand ambassador. Wearing Original Penguin, Knapp will be making his PGA TOUR debut this season at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

As an ambassador for Original Penguin, Knapp will represent the brand on and off the golf course, showcasing the intersection of sport and style. Known for his prodigious length off the tee, he finished second in driving distance on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023. Additionally, Knapp was voted the “Friendliest Player on Tour” by his peers aligning perfectly with the Original Penguin ethos, making him an ideal representative for the brand.

“We are delighted to welcome Jake Knapp to the Original Penguin family as a brand ambassador,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, CEO of Perry Ellis International. “Jake’s exceptional talent on the golf course and his authentic style make him a natural fit for our brand. We look forward to collaborating with him to showcase the perfect blend of performance and fashion that Original Penguin represents.”

“I am thrilled to join forces with Original Penguin, a brand that seamlessly blends classic style with a modern edge,” stated Knapp. “As a golfer, I appreciate the importance of both performance and style on and off the course. Original Penguin’s commitment to quality and innovation aligns perfectly with my values, and I am proud to represent a brand that understands the significance of individuality in the world of sports and fashion.”

As a standout at UCLA, Knapp qualified for the 2015 U.S. Open, U.S.  Amateur and reached the semifinals of the Western Amateur. In 2023, the Newport Beach native earned his PGA TOUR card after finishing 13th on the Korn ferry Tour Points List.

Knapp joins 2022 Open Champion Cameron Smith and PGA TOUR winner Nico Echavarria as Original Penguin brand ambassadors. PGA TOUR professional Augusto Nunez, Korn Ferry Tour member Mason Andersen and PGA TOUR Americas member Jaime Rivarola will also be sporting the iconic brand in 2024.

“We continue to grow the Original Penguin brand on the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour with more of the best players in the world wearing the Penguin icon,” added Feldenkreis.

Original Penguin and Pete the Penguin have left their mark on a league of legends. For over 60 years, our namesake bird has been adorned and adored by the masters of leisure and sport to define itself as an American classic. Today, the Penguin icon still stands as a signal for those who know how to be an original.
