Tour Edge staff player Bernhard Langer shot his age or better in three straight rounds to help him capture the PGA TOUR Champions season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix, Arizona Sunday.
Langer’s 18-under par performance led him to win for the 18th straight year on the PGA TOUR Champions, setting a new mark for consecutive years with a victory.
He started Sunday’s round with five birdies in the first six holes to lead him to the 23rd round in which he has shot his age or better on the tour, including three straight rounds of 64-67-66.
This makes for the 23rd time he has shot his age or better since he joined the Tour Edge staff. His 30-foot birdie putt on 18 Sunday extended his Champions Tour all-time win record to 47 victories.
He also broke his own record as oldest winner in PGA TOUR Champions history at 67 years, 2 months, and 14 days.
“It’s unbelievable,” said Langer. “To win this big tournament after what I’ve been through and to make 18 years in a row out here, it’s quite amazing. I’m really grateful, very blessed.”
He played a full-set of Tour Edge Exotics forged irons to perfection, including the Exotics Pro 723 model in his scoring irons.
“Bernhard never ceases to amaze,” said Tour Edge CEO David Glod. “His records will stand for a very long time, and we are very proud to have helped him make history once again. A huge congratulations from everyone at Tour Edge to the greatest Champions player of all-time.”
Langer advanced to No. 7 in the Charles Schwab Cup standings with his victory.
Tour Edge staff player Alex Cejka also finished 4th this week at the Schwab Cup Championship playing his Exotics C725 3-wood and Exotics EXS Blade Wedge. Cejka has stated that he is getting the most ball speed he has ever had from a 3-wood with the brand-new C725 fairway metal that was released November 1st.
With seven wins on PGA TOUR Champions over the last two seasons, Tour Edge has now been in the bag for 28 victories on the PGA TOUR Champions since the company started working full-time with Champions tour players.
The company has experienced over 5,000 clubs in tournament play by over 175 different PGA TOUR professionals on the three PGA Tours since the start of the 2018 season.
