Maja Stark Claims 80th U.S. Women’s Open

Playing with the patience and precision reminiscent of another champion from Sweden, Maja Stark won the 80th U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally on Sunday when she mastered the demands of Erin Hills and the challenge of the No. 1 player in the world close behind. The 25-year-old closed with an even-par 72 for a 7-under-par total of 281, and a two-stroke margin of victory over Nelly Korda and Rio Takeda from Japan.

Mao Saigo, Hyejin Choi and Ruoning Yin were at 284 with qualifier Hailee Cooper and Hinako Shibuno at 285. Angel Yin, Linn Grant and 2018 U.S. Women’s Open champion Ariya Jutanugarn finished five back at 286.

Golf Channel to Present More than 10 Hours of Live Coverage of Final Qualifying for 2025 US Open on Golf’s Longest Day

GOLF Channel will surround “Golf’s Longest Day” Presented by Titleist with 10 hours of live coverage on Monday, June 2, as golfers compete at 10 sites across the United States and Canada in the hopes of qualifying for the upcoming 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club June 12-15.

Rich Lerner will serve as the primary host for GOLF Channel’s coverage of Golf’s Longest Day Presented by Titleist and Eamon Lynch will provide reports from Oakmont Country Club. Damon Hack and George Savaricas will be joined by Tripp Isenhour and Brendon de Jonge to provide commentary and analysis throughout the 10 hours of live coverage, which will air from 12-2 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. – midnight ET.

The long march to the winner’s circle at the 80th U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally began Thursday with a logjam atop the leader board at Erin Hills as Rio Takeda, Yealimi Noh, Jinhee Im, Angel Yin, Julia Lopez Ramirez and 2020 champion A Lim Kim opened with rounds of 4-under-par 68.

The challenges of Erin Hills lurked quietly behind the gently rolling terrain, especially in the demanding collection areas surrounding the brilliant green complexes. Many players got on a roll in the first round only to find Erin Hills whisper back, Oh, no you don’t. And that helped bunch up the leader board.
