Club Champion and American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Announce Partnership

Club Champion, a leading custom golf club fitting company, today announced a new partnership with the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), a professional organization dedicated to advancing sports medicine and helping athletes of all levels remain active.

“Golf is a game people want to play for their entire lives, and an injury shouldn’t necessarily mean the end of that journey,” said Nick Sherburne, Founder of Club Champion. “We’re incredibly excited to partner with AOSSM and its members to help golfers get back to doing something they love. Doctors do the important work of helping patients recover and return to activity safely. Our role is to make sure their equipment fits the golfer they are today, not necessarily the golfer they were before an injury. Together, we have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”

The collaboration creates a new member benefit for AOSSM’s sports medicine community. Eligible AOSSM members can receive referral revenue-sharing opportunities and other program benefits. Club Champion, in turn, will have the opportunity to introduce its custom golf club fitting services to AOSSM members through society communications and engagement opportunities.

“We are excited to welcome Club Champion as an AOSSM affiliate partner,” said Corey Parker, Chief Executive Officer of AOSSM. “AOSSM is committed to creating meaningful value for our members, and this partnership opens the door to new benefits while connecting Club Champion with an exceptional community of orthopaedic sports medicine leaders who are dedicated to keeping athletes healthy and in the game. When we bring the right organizations together around shared interests, the opportunities to create value are significant. This partnership is a great example of how we’re expanding the AOSSM membership experience while building relationships that benefit our members and our partners alike.”

Where Sports Medicine Meets Golf Performance

The partnership recognizes that physical capabilities can change significantly following an injury or surgery. Changes in strength, flexibility, mobility, or swing speed may mean that equipment that previously performed well is no longer the best fit.

Club Champion’s brand-agnostic fitting process evaluates a golfer’s current swing and performance using advanced launch-monitor technology, extensive equipment options, and trained fitting professionals. By analyzing clubhead speed, launch conditions, spin, dispersion, and equipment specifications, fitters can identify configurations that better match current abilities and performance goals.

Potential considerations include lighter-weight clubs and shafts, shaft flex and performance, club length and lie angle, clubhead forgiveness, and overall equipment optimization. Club Champion’s AI Fitter Co-Pilot also supports its professionals by analyzing swing and equipment performance data to identify potential fitting solutions.

“As a sports medicine physician and golfer, I appreciate the role that properly fitted equipment may play in enhancing performance and potentially reducing the risk of injury,” said Jeffrey Dugas, MD, AOSSM Vice President. “My experience with Club Champion demonstrated the benefits of a personalized fitting process tailored to the individual athlete. This partnership provides AOSSM members with access to a valuable resource that can help golfers play more effectively, comfortably, and confidently.”

Supporting the Return-to-Golf Journey

Club Champion and AOSSM will explore opportunities to provide sports medicine professionals with educational resources about golf equipment fitting and how physical changes can influence equipment needs. The collaboration complements, rather than replaces, medical care and rehabilitation provided by qualified healthcare professionals.

“One of the things that makes this partnership exciting is that we’re approaching the same goal from two different areas of expertise,” Sherburne added. “A physician understands the patient’s injury, recovery, and physical limitations. We understand golf equipment and how to optimize it for an individual’s swing. When those two worlds work together, we have an opportunity to create a better experience for golfers returning to the game.”

A Shared Commitment to Lifelong Activity

Whether a golfer is returning from knee surgery, managing changes in mobility, recovering from a shoulder injury, or adjusting to the physical realities of aging, the partnership aims to increase awareness of the value of evaluating equipment as part of the return-to-golf experience.

“We don’t believe golfers should have to give up on the game they love simply because their bodies or swings have changed,” said Sherburne. “The right equipment can’t fix an injury, but it can help a golfer get more out of the swing they’re physically capable of making. That’s what we do every day at Club Champion, and we’re excited to bring that expertise to the AOSSM community.”
