Statewide Economic Impact of Ryder Cup Expected to Exceed $200 Million

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that New York State is set to welcome more than 250,000 spectators to Bethpage State Park on Long Island during the 45th Ryder Cup. This historic international event, taking place September 23–28, continues the strong partnership between New York State and the PGA of America. The sold-out biennial match between Team USA and Team Europe is projected to generate more than $200 million in economic impact statewide.



“New York is proud to host the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black and welcome fans from around the world to experience all that Long Island and New York State have to offer,” Governor Hochul said. “It is a great distinction that the PGA of America selected a State Park golf course for this world-class competition. Beyond the excitement on the course, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Long Island–New York City region, where they can experience world-class dining, entertainment, and cultural attractions while supporting local businesses that make this area so vibrant. Five Iron Golf Debuts Seventh Location in New York City

Brandon Holtz Wins 44th U.S. Mid-Amateur

Brandon Holtz, of Bloomington, Ill., took down Jeg Coughlin III, of Dublin, Ohio, to capture the 44th U.S. Mid-Amateur, 3 and 2, in Thursday’s 36-hole championship match at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Holtz, a reinstated amateur, becomes the second Illinois State graduate to win a USGA title after Todd Mitchell (2019 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball).

“It felt great. I feel like the older I get, the better I get,” said Holtz. “I didn’t see this day [coming]. I’m glad it’s here, though.”

SiriusXM Gives Fans Access to Entire 2025 Ryder Cup

SiriusXM will offer subscribers across North America comprehensive live hole-by-hole coverage of one of golf’s most exciting and anticipated events – the 45th Ryder Cup – as a team of the best golfers from the United States faces off against their counterparts from Europe in what promises to be an electric atmosphere at the storied Bethpage Black in New York September 26-28.

SiriusXM’s Ryder Cup Radio (channel 92) will air 28 hours of live on-course play-by-play – co-produced with Westwood One Sports – that will give fans access to the event in its entirety, from the first tee shot on Friday through the final hole on Sunday. The play-by-play will begin on Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27, at 7 am ET, and on Sunday, September 28, at noon ET, and continue through the final hole of each day’s play. NBC Sports presents comprehensive live coverage of golf’s 45th Ryder Cup across NBC, USA Network, and Peacock, beginning Friday, September 26, through Sunday, September 28, from Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y.

NBC Sports will present coverage from the Ryder Cup’s first tee shot to the final putt from Friday-Sunday, featuring more than 100 hours of coverage including Golf Central Live From the Ryder Cup studio coverage beginning Monday, Sept. 22, on GOLF Channel, and featured groups coverage on Peacock.

Dawn Woodard Wins U.S. Senior Women’s Am

Good things come to those who wait. After decades of playing in USGA championships, Dawn Woodard’s quest for a USGA title is finally over.  

Playing in her 35th USGA championship and falling short in the quarterfinals of last year's U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, the Greenville, S.C., native broke through on Thursday afternoon, erasing a late deficit to defeat Australia’s Sue Wooster on the 20th hole of the championship finale.

The Club at Eaglebrooke Set to Re-Open

The Club at Eaglebrooke, a semi-private facility in Lakeland, Fla., will celebrate the reopening of its 18-hole golf course with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 1st. 

The course has been closed to play since April, undergoing a $1 million-plus, multi-phase renovation. The Club at Eaglebrooke will officially reopen for member and limited non-member/public play on October 1st.

USGA Mainstays Woodard, Wooster Advance to Championship Match at The Homestead

Two of the most seasoned competitors in the field will square off for the 63rd U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur title on Thursday at The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va. With dozens of USGA appearances between them, tomorrow’s final guarantees that for one of them, a long-awaited moment will finally arrive when they lift the trophy. 

The finalists are Sue Wooster, 63, of Australia, making her fourth appearance in this championship’s final and 12th appearance overall in the event, and Dawn Woodard, 51, of Greenville, S.C., who is competing in her 35th USGA event but her first championship match. 

Holtz to Face Coughlin III in 36-Hole Final at Troon C.C.

Brandon Holtz, of Bloomington, Ill., and Jeg Coughlin III, of Dublin, Ohio, each secured semifinal victories on Wednesday at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., to advance to Thursday’s 36-hole championship match of the 44th U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. 

Holtz, 38, is a former Illinois State University basketball player competing in his first USGA championship. He defeated Christian Cavaliere, of Katonah, N.Y., 3 and 2 in Wednesday’s afternoon match after rallying from 3 down with five holes to play in his quarterfinal match against Justin Hueber, winning in 19 holes.

The Golf Club of Tennessee to Host U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships

The USGA announced today that The Golf Club of Tennessee, in Kingston Springs, Tenn., has been selected as the host site for the 2029 U.S. Mid-Amateur and 2034 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships. The Mid-Amateur will be the first USGA championship hosted by the club since the 2018 U.S. Women’s Amateur.

“We are excited to return to The Golf Club of Tennessee which now has not one, but two fantastic golf courses, and a supportive, engaged membership that we are pleased to partner with," said Mark Hill, USGA managing director, championships. “We are grateful for the invitation and look forward to welcoming some of the best mid-amateurs from around the world."
