FootJoy Flex Coastal Golf Shoes Review - Taking Comfort to Even Higher Levels

It doesn't happen very often, but every once in awhile you try on new golf shoes, play in them for the first time, and literally have a kind of "Woah!" (out loud) moment because they're so good.

Well, after my first full round wearing the new FootJoy Flex Coastal shoes, that moment was more than just "woah, these are good."  These are the most comfortable FootJoy Flex I’ve ever worn.

The new Flex Coastal insole cushion feels even softer than the original, and massage elements in the footbed are freaking awesome.  The entire insole also seems to mold to your feet almost immediately (you can actually feel your feet making an imprint in footbed).

Padding inside the Flex Coastal shoes still feels soft, similar to last year's shoes.  However the new padding is a denser, thicker, padding that's not only more comfortable, but also contributes to more stability.

The tongue on the Flex Coastal this year is thicker as well, which is a welcome improvement.  And it's an overall lower profile fit where you definitely feel lower to the ground.

The outer knit material of the new Flex Coastal feels and looks similar to the original, and the spikeless outsole also looks the same.  But these feel more grippy, feel like they clutch the grass more.  I don’t know how, but these just have better traction as well.

Breathability with Flex Coastal is fantastic, and during a recent round where humidity was very high I appreciated this even more.  These shoes are also very lightweight, but not waterproof so something to keep in mind if you play in the rain frequently.

The original Flex Coastal were the most comfortable FootJoy Flex shoes I’ve worn in this style.  And straight up, these are better.  Not just different, legit better.  And they take the FootJoy Flex line to an even higher level of comfort.

  1. Thanks for the review Pete, I just picked up a pair of the new FJ Flex Coastal, and I have to admit this review helped me with the decision. I haven't gotten them out on the course yet (tomorrow), but the fit and comfort just knocking around the house have been great, and they are probably the best looking for this style shoe that I've seen yet.
