Club Champion Driver Fitting Review - PGAPappas Go Deep with Club Champion Giveaway Guest Review

I always have a great time when I'm fit at Club Champion, you guys know that already.  The fitter expertise, the massive club and shaft selection, and ultimately the results of the final product and really being treated like a Tour pro.  Club Champion is utterly fantastic.

Every time I have an opportunity to send one of you to Club Champion for a fitting I jump all over it.  And I recently has a Go Deep with Club Champion driver fitting giveaway here on my blog, twitter, and Instagram.  And the winner Joey probably sums it up best when he says about his new driver, "I'm CRUSHING this thing, my dispersion is half of what it was, and I'm hitting the ball further than I ever have."

In his own words, here's what Joey (TheOnlyMerkules on twitter) thought and learned about the entire Club Champion fitting experience:

I've been joining Pete's giveaways for what feels like years, and I never think I have the slightest chance of winning anything.  So you can only imagine how excited I was that Friday afternoon I received a notification from Pete tagging me in a Twitter and Instagram post.  Even when I read it, I didn't believe it. But it was confirmed after I quickly opened Twitter and saw the DM from the man himself!

After contacting Pete and giving him some dates that worked for me, he got me scheduled for my fitting in less than two weeks.  That's pretty quick for this time of the year.  For anyone who hasn't been fit at Club Champion, their schedules fill up... and FAST.  Now, I've been through a fitting before.  And more importantly, I've been to Club Champion.  So I was at ease knowing it was to be scheduled at my home location.  I was even able to set up my appointment with my favorite fitter, Mike. FYI, He's the BEST.  If you go to the Cleveland location, always ask for Mike.  And tell him Joe sent ya. ;)

Now, for those of you that have never been to a Club Champion, the selections and combinations can be overwhelming.  But it's a cozy place, so from the second you walk through the door it's a very welcoming experience.  They have some couches and chairs with a Television on the wall immediately as you enter. Just past this is a decent sized putting green.  So if they're busy or you arrive early, you can relax and watch The Golf Channel or hit some putts with some quality putters while you wait.  They also have the WALL of inventory.  They have TONS of club heads, shafts and grips.  The selections seem endless.  Feel free to walk the floor and look around at some combinations before you begin your fitting.

I was only inside for a matter of seconds before Mike saw and greeted me. I hadn't seen or talked to him since before the pandemic began.  After a quick catch-up sesh and some chitchat, it was time to get down to what I was there for.  I've been fit for irons, my wedges and even my putter.  But even after years of golfing, I'd never been fit for a driver.  Hell, I've never even owned a NEW driver, so I knew this was gonna be awesome.

I went into this having done my homework. I knew I had too.  I'm a lefty.  And for those of you who are not or may not know, options for us can be extremely limited.  So, I made a small list of what driver heads I wanted to hit and what shafts I was interested in.  For clubs, this included; TaylorMade, Ping, Callaway, Srixon and Titleist.  And for shafts, I really wanted to hit the Fujikura Ventus series.  Other than that, I knew this decision was ultimately gonna be up to the Golf Gods.

We started with what was the newest, so first up was the TaylorMade Stealth.  After that, we moved on to the Ping G 425.  Then the Callaway Rouge ST.  After trying out all three, hitting some fairly good shots and some completely horrendous ones, Mike asked if I had any other choices on my list.  I had a couple others listed that unfortunately weren't available.  And then I mentioned Titleist.  And man, am I glad I did my homework.  The look of the TSI series reminded me so much of the first driver I had ever played.  It was simple and sleek.

The only sound better than the ball coming off the face of this club is the sound of the ball going in the cup. After 100+ swings, switching in and out some different shafts, we finally finished building a thing of beauty.  I went with the Titleist TSI2 driver, accompanied by an LA Golf shaft.  After selecting my grip, the order was in and that was it.  Easy Peasy.  Even had a little extra time from my fitting, so I was able to get my putter fit as well!

Mike said it would take a few weeks for it to come in. I also decided to have it shipped to Club Champion, so that I could come in and swing and do some fine tuning if need be.  A month to the day of my fitting, I got the message my club was in and ready to rock.  Now when I had my fitting, my swing was not quite up to par.  And for a lot of golfers this could be an issue.  If you're getting fit for the first time or are having serious issues with your game, it may be better to get that in order before a fitting.  But I know my game.  And along with Mike's expertise, we knew this wasn't a huge issue for me.

During the month of waiting for this beaut to come in, my swing finally came back around.  I let Mike know this as soon as I arrived to pick it up, and he adjusted some things with my settings to match things up.  And wouldn't you know, first time out with it, and I'm CRUSHING this thing.  My dispersion is half of what it was, and I'm hitting the ball further than I ever had.  And this is playing in the wet and cold.  Man, I can't wait for great weather!

This experience was amazing.  I still can't believe I won.  Again, thanks to Pete Pappas for running another amazing giveaway.  Thanks to Club Champion for everything they do and offer.  And a huge thanks and shoutout to Mike for doing what he does best.  Enjoy your time on the course everyone, and hit 'em straight!

Thanks for a great review Joey.  Sounded like it was pretty much as perfect a fitting for TheOnlyMerkules.  And then of course there's that new TSi2 driver he'll be hitting nasty, straight bombs with all season!

This one's really easy for me to sum up.  Club Champion clearly does fitting right and genuinely cares about us being happy and satisfied with both the fitting and the end result.

This isn't the first Club Champion fitting giveaway we've had.  Here's a link to another Club Champion diver and fitting giveaway from last year..  And it won't be the last either.  Club Champion just continues to impress.

No matter who you are, what your game is like, or what you want to accomplish, Club Champion will help you play better golf and in the process make the game more fun.  It doesn't get any better than that.
