Trust the TRTL: Odyssey Golf's New Putter is Ready to Win the Putter Race

Every great putter has a story.  Some change the game.  Some become Tour staples.  And some are named after a turtle.  But don't let the name fool you.  Odyssey's new TRTL putters are built to make a fast impression on the greens.

Arriving November 6th the new Odyssey TRTL family of putters brings together bold looks, intuitive alignment, enhanced forgiveness, and a brand new insert designed to help golfers roll it closer with greater consistency.  And if the early buzz is any indication, this TRTL is going places.

A New Contender for Odyssey's Mount Rushmore of Putters
Odyssey Golf has a history of turning innovative ideas into putting icons.  The Rossie helped put the brand on the map, the 2-Ball became a household name, the #7 established itself as a Tour favorite, Jailbird made a powerful comeback.  And now Odyssey believes it may have another legend in the making with the TRTL.

TRTL started as a sketch from Odyssey's product team in Japan and evolved through a year and a half of design development.  The result is a distinctive mallet that puts weight where it matters most: out toward the four corners of the head.  That design maximizes moment of inertia (MOI) helping the putter resist twisting on off-center strikes and deliver more consistent performance.  In other words, it's a TRTL with a serious backbone.

Two Tracks and One Clear Line to the Hole
First impressions matter, especially when you're standing over a nervy four-foot putt for birdie or to save par.  And that's why Odyssey developed its new Twin Track alignment system pairing two bold alignment tracks with a striking green crown and contrasting black PVD exterior.

The alignment line extends all the way to the leading edge creating a clear, continuous, visual reference from the back of the putter to the ball.  The softened contours give the head a refined modern look while the high-visibility alignment makes it easy to set up with confidence.  No second-guessing your aim.  Just line it up and let it roll.

Meet the Ai-Star Insert: More Consistency and More Confidence
A great looking putter is one thing.  Getting the ball to the hole is another.  That's where the new Ai-Star insert comes in.  Combining an aluminum back with a urethane face Ai-Star builds on Odyssey's previous insert technologies.  A refined design that delivers improved ball-speed consistency across the face.  A thinner construction in the heel and toe helps preserve speed on off-center strikes.  And TRTL's high-MOI design adds another layer of forgiveness.

Odyssey's research found that approximately 87-percent of a putt's total travel distance comes from the ball’s initial speed with the remainder influenced by roll and launch angle. That makes consistent speed a critical piece of the putting puzzle.  And unlike a putter that can feel a little too soft off the face Ai-Star is designed to deliver a firmer feel and higher impact efficiency giving golfers the pop they need to help eliminate those frustrating short misses.

Four Weights and a World of Possibilities
The new Odyssey TRTL also gives golfers another way to dial in their performance with four movable weights.  While many premium putters offer heel-to-toe adjustments TRTL allows weight to shift both side-to-side and front-to-back.  This gives you more flexibility to influence the TRTL's center of gravity and even fine-tune toe hang to suit any unique preference and swing.

The concept has already shown promise on Tour.  Min Woo Lee is known for experimenting with putters and liked TRTL's look, feel, and performance but wanted to make a few personal adjustments.  Working with Odyssey's fitting team Min Woo changed the hosel configuration and weight placement to find his preferred setup.  And sometimes the difference between a good putter and great putter comes down to a few grams in just the right place.

Tour Tested and TRTL Approved
The TRTL's early Tour story is every bit as exciting as its design.  Min Woo Lee first put it in play at Pebble Beach where he delivered one of the best putting performances of his career.  He liked the firmer feel compared to his previous Microhinge insert and appreciated the extra speed that helped address his tendency to leave putts short.  And Min Woo hasn't looked back since.

As availability of TRTL expanded, demand for it followed.  And after its global Tour introduction in August TRTL became Odyssey's most played model on Tour, a remarkable achievement for a brand new design competing with established favorites like the 2-Ball, #7, and Jailbird.

Japan has embraced TRTL just as enthusiastically.  Following its launch there the four TRTL models became the market's four best-selling models in their first three days of sales.  And they maintained those top four positions for seven consecutive weeks.

Four Ways to Find Your TRTL
The new lineup features four models designed to suit different putting preferences.

  • TRTL Double Bend
A clean, stable setup for golfers who prefer a face-balanced-style configuration.

  • TRTL S-Neck
A traditional looking hosel option for golfers seeking a different balance of feel and toe flow.

  • TRTL Crank Hosel
A familiar, classic inspired setup for players who prefer a more traditional neck design.

  • Turtle Max
The larger square-to-square option approximately 6-percent bigger than the standard TRTL and delivering around 20-percent higher MOI.  It's built for golfers seeking a zero-torque-style setup with added size and forgiveness.

And Odyssey hasn't overlooked the details.  From the headcover to the shaft band and grip the TRTL family carries its distinctive personality throughout the package.

The Bottom Line: Trust the TRTL
Odyssey has built its reputation by combining smart engineering with designs golfers can understand, trust, and put to work on the course.  And the new TRTL putters bring these ingredients together in a fresh package with bold Twin Track alignment, a speed focused Ai-Star insert, high MOI construction, and four-way movable weighting.

TRTL looks different.  TRTL feels different.  And the early results suggest TRTL could become a familiar sight on greens all around the world in 2027.
