Phoenix Country Club will host the PGA TOUR Champions Charles Schwab Cup Championship next Thursday – Sunday, November 10 – 13. The final event of the PGA TOUR Champions season, and the third and final event of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, will feature the top 36 golfers in the standings and determine the annual Charles Schwab Cup Champion.

Bradford A. Becken, Jr.,Donald Ross Society president since 2018, has authored and presented a detailed analysis of Ross’ work relying on approximately 1,500 hole and green and routing drawings that still exist and having played and extensively photographed each one. Starting with the opening of Oakley CC in 1901, Donald Ross, the most important North American architect has 420 design and redesign golf courses to his credit. 370 courses remain today in the US and Canada. The book looks at Ross’ design characteristics and also discusses the restoration movement of Ross’ courses that began in the 1980’s.

GOLF Magazine announced its newest inductees into the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame. The 2022 class includes legendary instructors Randy Smith, Mike McGetrick and the late Ben Doyle.
The ceremony to induct this year’s honorees will be held on Monday, November 14th at GOLF’s Top 100 Teachers Retreat, at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The USGA has announced that Chicago Golf Club, in Wheaton, Ill., will be the host site for the 2033 U.S. Women’s Open Presented by ProMedica and the 2036 Walker Cup Match. The historic club has previously hosted 12 USGA championships, most recently the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open in 2018.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) has announced that Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, in Nichols Hills, Okla., will be the host site of the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball, which will take place from May 10-14.
The club hosted the 1953 U.S. Amateur, when future U.S. Open champion Gene Littler defeated Dale Morey, 1 up, in the final match. Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club has also held qualifiers for the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur.

Cherry Hills, one of America’s most historic and revered golf clubs and site of Arnold Palmer’s lone U.S. Open victory in 1960, has completed a decade-long restoration of its 1922 William Flynn golf course, which has hosted 14 major championships and will welcome the 2023 United States Amateur Championship next summer.
Cherry Hills commissioned acclaimed golf course architect Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf Design in 2007 to restore the charm, character, and playability of the original Flynn design while also lengthening it over the years to maintain the club’s heritage of hosting prestigious national championships. The West Course at Belfair, a private community in Bluffton, South Carolina, recently reopened following a $5.8 million, five-month golf course renovation. The project, which began in mid-May, included a new irrigation system, re-grassing of greens, bunker renovations, as well as other projects to improve the award-winning course’s playability and aesthetics.
Fazio Design led the renovation project of the original Tom Fazio-designed West Course, which first opened for play in 1996. Leibold Irrigation, a leader in golf course construction and renovation, executed the construction work.
The USGA has announced that The Los Angeles (Calif.) Country Club will host the 2032 U.S. Women’s Open Presented by ProMedica and 2039 U.S. Open Championships. The club has previously hosted three USGA championships, most recently the 2017 Walker Cup Match, and will stage the 123rd U.S. Open next June.

The University of North Carolina men’s team and Stanford University women’s team captured the 2022 Jackson T. Stephens Cup team titles. At the Shriner’s Children Open in Las Vegas, Fujikura was the #1 driver, wood, and hybrid shaft. Over 32.6% of the field used a Fujikura driver shaft at TPC Summerlin, with another 30.2% in the wood shaft count. Fujikura finished the week as the number one in the hybrid count as well, with 27.3% of the field using a Fujikura hybrid shaft during the tournament.
Commemorating a 25-year partnership with a focus on growing the game, the USGA has continued its investment in First Tee by awarding IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility) grants to 25 chapters across America.
The USGA’s IDEA Grant Program delivers direct funding to community-based programs that break down barriers to participation in golf and First Tee’s character-building programs, improving pathways to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. In 2022, 25 chapters — from Massachusetts to California — were awarded up to $25,000 each to provide transportation, hire diverse coaches, train volunteers and build programs in diverse communities, among other activities.

The final full-field event of the 2022 LPGA Tour season, The Pelican Women’s Championship, will take place Nov. 7-13 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla, where the world’s top professional golfers will compete for a share of the $2 million purse.
COBRA PUMA GOLF has announced plans to exhibit at the 2023 PGA Show, Jan. 24-27, in Orlando, Fla.
COBRA GOLF and PUMA GOLF will showcase their complete product lines in two new anchor exhibits on the PGA Show Floor. COBRA GOLF also will offer product testing during the event’s outdoor Demo & Fitting Day (Jan. 24 at the Orange County National Golf Center) and indoors within their interactive Show Floor experience (Jan. 25-27 in the Orange County Convention Center). PUMA GOLF will share their newest collections with buyers in a new separate exhibit in the apparel section of the Show Floor and participate in the annual live Fashion Show.
True Spec Golf, the global leader in custom club fitting and club building, has announced they have partnered with The Golf Practice, one of Chicago’s premier golf academies. The new, larger location for True Spec Chicago North Shore, located less than half a mile from the previous location, was necessary to meet high demand in the area.
The undertaking is the latest in a series of partnerships that brings True Spec’s bespoke fittings and best-in-class customer service to prominent venues around the country.
