Mizuno RB Tour Golf Balls (2023) - PGAPappas Giveaway Guest Review (Nick)

Mizuno Golf is renown for exceptional irons.  In recent years Mizuno has also earned high praise for driver and wood performance.  And now with their latest model RB Tour balls, Mizuno is legitimately turning heads in the golf ball area.

This guest review comes from Nick (@AllTruth16) on twitter.  Nick tested the new 2023 Mizuno Golf RB Tour golf balls. And in Nick's own words these "Mizuno has found a winner with this ball; it cuts through the wind with a really solid ball flight and flat out spins (on the greens)."

Here's Nick's full review tee to green on the new Mizuno RB Tour golf balls.

I've played 36 holes with the Mizuno RB Tour ball and I must say I've been pleasantly surprised. Starting on the 1st tee I already loved the look of the ball. Nice white finish, minimal text and the iconic Mizuno running bird.

For a guy who played high school and college golf through the late 90's and early 2000's and gamed everything Mizuno, from MP-14 irons to the T-Zoid driver, the running bird always makes me feel pretty confident.

Once I put the ball in play I continued to be impressed. It felt soft coming off the club face but cut through the wind with a really solid ball flight. The RB Tour spun as well off of full iron shots as my usual ProV1.

I backed up a 7 iron around 6 feet from a tight fairway lie and a full wedge juiced back about 8 feet. The ball flat out spins. The only issue I had, and it was minimal, was that the ball didn't feel maybe as soft or reactive on shorter pitch and chips shots as the Titleist, but like I said, minimally.

The biggest surprise of the day came from the durability of the ball. I had read several reviews of previous versions of the Mizuno ball where people complained about a lack of durability.

Well, I played one ball all day on my first round (with a couple of bunker shots... sigh) and the ball didn't look, feel or play any different than a Titleist or TaylorMade after 18 holes. It held up really well.

Mizuno has found a winner with this ball, at least in my opinion. A good ball for low handicappers that performs in similar ways to the Holy Grail of golf balls (the ProV1, but that's also just my opinion and I'm a nobody).

But, and there is always a but, I'm not sure I would drop $50-$60 on a dozen. That's also my opinion on all golf balls, they are all getting a little pricey at this point. If Mizuno were to sell this ball for $35 to $40 a dozen, I think they would find themselves a good market for players like myself.

Just wanted to say thanks again Pete, hopefully we get a chance to meet up and maybe play a round if you bring Play With Pete Invitational to the East Coast (mid Atlantic preferably).

Stay well brother.
