Oklahoma Senior Chris Gotterup Wins 2022 Fred Haskins Award Presented by Stifel

Oklahoma senior Chris Gotterup was announced today as the winner of the prestigious 2022 Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel, recognizing the most outstanding male NCAA Division I college golfer for the 2021-22 season. The announcement was made today by Brian Stubbs, executive director of the Fred Haskins Foundation, and Ron Kruszewski, Chairman and CEO of Stifel.

Gotterup, a fifth-year senior who is the top-ranked NCAA DI men’s college golfer in both the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, transferred to Oklahoma from Rutgers for the 2021-22 season. He carded victories at the East Lake Cup and the Puerto Rico Classic, and recorded eight top-10 finishes in 12 events overall, highlighted by his two victories, a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championship and two top-3 finishes. Gotterup finished in fifth place at 1-over par at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships Individual Championships on Monday, and advances to team match play competition with his Oklahoma teammates that begins today.

Historic Hotels of America Announce 2022 Top 25 Most Historic Golf Courses

Historic Hotels of America® has a unique collection of the most beautiful, prestigious, and iconic golf courses where many champions have learned to play golf, competed, and made history. USGA Announces Tee Times for 77th U.S. Women’s Open Championship Presented by ProMedica

The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced tee times for the first two rounds of the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open Championship Presented by ProMedica, Thursday (June 2) and Friday (June 3), at 6,638-yard, par-71 Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club, in Southern Pines, N.C.

The U.S. Women's Open is a 72-hole, stroke-play competition. A field of 156 players will play 18 holes of stroke play on June 2 and 3, after which the field will be reduced to the low 60 scores and ties. Those players making the cut will play 18 holes on June 4 and 5. If there is a tie upon the completion of 72 holes, a two-hole aggregate playoff will immediately follow. If this playoff results in a tie, the tied players will immediately continue to play off hole-by-hole until the winner is determined.

This is the 77th U.S. Women’s Open Championship Presented by ProMedica. The first U.S. Women’s Open, played at Spokane (Wash.) Country Club in 1946, was the only one conducted at match play. The Women’s Professional Golfers Association (WPGA) conducted the inaugural championship, won by Patty Berg.

The WPGA conducted the Women’s Open until 1949, when the newly formed Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) took over operation of the championship. The LPGA ran the Women’s Open for four years but in 1953 asked the United States Golf Association to conduct the championship, which it has done ever since.

National Golf Links of America to Host 2030 Curtis Cup Match

National Golf Links of America, in Southampton, N.Y., has been named the host site of the 46th Curtis Cup Match, to be held June 7-9, 2030. This will be the third USGA championship conducted at National Golf Links, which has previously hosted the 1922 and 2013 Walker Cup Matches.

“We are thrilled to return to National Golf Links, one of America’s finest golf courses and a true cathedral of the game,” said Mark Hill, USGA managing director, Championships. “The club has been such an integral part of Walker Cup history, so for its leadership to offer to host a Curtis Cup speaks volumes about their commitment to the amateur and women’s game. USGA Announces 30 Additional Players Exempt for 122nd U.S. Open Championship

The United States Golf Association (USGA) has announced that 30 additional golfers, including major champions Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley, have earned full exemptions into the 2022 U.S. Open Championship, to be played June 16-19 at The Country Club, in Brookline, Mass. These exemptions bring the number of fully exempt players to 79.

Exemptions were awarded to 27 players who earned a place in the top 60 of the Official World Golf Ranking® (OWGR) as of May 23, who were not otherwise exempt. Scott, who will compete in his 21st U.S. Open, won the 2013 Masters Tournament. He is ranked No. 42. Bradley, who won the 2011 PGA Championship, is ranked No. 46. It will be Bradley’s 10th U.S. Open.

Tamarack Resort Begins Restoration of Award Winning Osprey Meadows Golf Course

Tamarack Resort has begun restoration of its 18-hole championship golf course, Osprey Meadows. The driving range is expected to open to the public later this summer with the grand opening of the course planned for summer 2023.

While the overall layout of the course – with its mountain, meadow and lake views – remains, Tamarack and the original course architects from RTJ II have reimagined several holes to improve overall playability.
