The 126th U.S. Amateur Championship kicks off Monday from Philadelphia Country Club for stroke play and Merion Golf Club for match play.
Merion Golf Club’s East Course will be set up at 6,939 yards and will play to a par of 36-34-70. Philadelphia Country Club, which will serve as the stroke-play co-host course for the two rounds of stroke play, will be set up at 7,201 yards and will play to a par of 35-35-70. The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced that Baltusrol Golf Club, in Springfield, N.J., will host four future USGA championships: the 2033 U.S. Mid-Amateur, the 2039 U.S. Amateur, the 2046 U.S. Open and a U.S. Women's Open at a date to be determined later.
The additions build on one of the deepest championship histories in American golf. Baltusrol's 16 previous USGA championships — seven U.S. Opens, four U.S. Amateurs, two U.S. Women's Opens, two U.S. Women's Amateurs and the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur — already rank fourth-most of any club, behind only Merion, Oakmont and The Country Club. The 2033 Mid-Amateur will mark a first for the club, while the 2046 U.S. Open — the 146th playing of the championship — will be Baltusrol's first since Lee Janzen's win in 1993.
