Silverado Resort and Spa Named Regional Golf Course of The Year by NGCOA

Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif. has been named the is (Region 4) by the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA). Each year, the NGCOA recognizes the most outstanding members of the past year, and the individuals and organizations that have helped preserve the tradition of the game while embracing the challenges and opportunities of the golf business. Silverado and all NGCOA award winners were recognized during the 2022 Golf Business Conference, January 24-26, in Orlando, Fla.

The National and Regional Course of the Year Awards recognize golf courses that epitomize exceptional course quality and management excellence, make important contributions to their communities and the game, and are models of operations to its peers. Silverado Resort and Spa was selected for Region 4 and is the only golf facility west of the Mississippi to be honored. Other Regional Course of the Year winners include, Swansea Country Club in Swansea, Mass. (Region 1); Sweetgrass Golf Club at Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Mich. (Region 2); and Streamsong Red in Bowling Green, Fla. (Region 3). Sweetgrass Golf Club was recognized as the 2022 Jemsek National Course of the Year.

“We are thrilled to receive this honor from the NGCOA, and we’re very humbled to be listed alongside the other outstanding regional winners from across the country,” said Cody Sherrill, Silverado Resort and Spa’s director of club operations.

Silverado’s national NGCOA award follows it’s “California Golf Course of the Year” award presented by the California Golf Course Owners Association (CGCOA) Board of Directors in November 2020. The CGCOA Board recognized Silverado for its connection to the PGA TOUR, all that the courses and region have had to overcome in recent years, and the exemplary characteristics of the property.

“As the area’s only 36-hole golf resort, we know we have to maintain a high standard, so our guests can feel confident they’ve arrived at the best courses in the area to enjoy and perfect their game,” said Todd Shallan, resort managing director. “This esteemed award reminds us that our skilled golf staff and pros are doing a fantastic job!”

Located in the heart of California’s wine country, Silverado Resort and Spa is Napa Valley’s only 36-hole golf resort. The property’s North Course annually hosts the PGA TOUR’s Fortinet Championship in early September. The North Course originally opened in 1955, was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and then refreshed by multi-time TOUR winner and then Silverado Resort and Spa owner, Johnny Miller. Silverado’s 6,612-yard, par 72 South Course is a favorite among members and resort guests and was also renovated by Miller. In 2020, the North Course was named to Golfweek’s Best 2020: Top 200 Resort Courses ranking. In addition to two 18-hole golf courses, Silverado features 340 guest rooms, a full service Spa, 10 tennis courts and 10 swimming pools, all in close proximity to Napa Valley’s 540-plus wineries.
