Softspikes congratulates the winner of the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld on capturing a long-awaited first PGA Tour title, wearing Tour Flex Pro in his FootJoy Traditions shoes.
Nearly a decade after turning pro, the 31-year-old from California finally got to step into the winners’ circle following a clutch birdie on the second playoff hole. The win makes it three victories in the past four PGA Tour events for the No.1 spike on tour, Tour Flex Pro and six victories in the past seven events for players equipped with Softspikes.
In total, 79% of the field at the Mexico Open at VadantaWorld wore spikes, with 25% in Tour Flex Pro. At the conclusion of play on Sunday, 37 of the top 44 finishers were players benefiting from wearing replaceable spikes.
On the LPGA Tour, at the Honda LPGA Thailand, the winner wore Zarma Tour spikes in her ECCO golf shoes to claim a second career tour title.
“It’s been a tremendous start to the year on Tour in terms of victories and usage numbers and we couldn’t be happier to see a first-time winner, achieve his goal of winning on the biggest stage in golf, trusting the No.1 spike on Tour,” commented Joe Henderson, President, Softspikes.
Tour players change grips and traction regularly based on course conditions, but amateur golfers rarely think about the impact wearing spikes has on consistency and distance. To achieve optimal performance benefits, golfers should be switching up their spikes every 15 rounds.
