Jim Furyk doubled his lead in weather-delayed Round 3 of the 41st U.S. Senior Open Championship on Saturday, shooting a 4-under-par 66 to take a four-stroke advantage over Stephen Ames into Sunday’s final round at Omaha Country Club.
Furyk, the 2003 U.S. Open champion who turned 51 in May, is attempting to become the eighth player to win both the U.S. Open and the U.S. Senior Open, an illustrious list that includes Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Billy Casper and Gary Player. Furyk is also seeking to join nine other golfers who have won the U.S. Senior Open in their first attempt.
Billy Andrade and Stephen Ames, a pair of 57-year-olds, each shot 5-under-par 65 to share the Round 1 lead on Thursday in the 41st U.S. Senior Open Championship at Omaha Country Club.
Andrade, of Bristol, R.I., shot one of two bogey-free rounds on Thursday, with the other turned in by Wes Short Jr., of Austin, Texas, who opened with a 4-under 66 and is alone in third place. Andrade, whose best finish in six previous U.S. Senior Open starts is a tie for sixth in 2015 at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, Calif., birdied all three par-5 holes in his afternoon round on the hilly Omaha layout and birdied Nos. 16 and 17 to earn a share of the lead with Ames, who had played in the morning.

Now that the nearly three-year-long road to qualifying for golfers has officially come to an end, attention now shifts to Kasumigaseki Country Club just outside of Tokyo where players will compete for their chance at history. As the Official Uniform Provider for USA GOLF, today we’re proud to unveil the uniforms that will be worn by the American team for both the men’s and women’s events in Tokyo.
Once we were renamed as the Official Uniform Provider for USA Golf, we began working with Tokyo-based artist Hiroko Takahashi on concepts for how the red, white and blue would show up in Tokyo. Takahashi’s designs are iconic and instantly recognizable through her use of minimal elements like circles and straight lines meant to represent infinite possibilities. While she has worked with us on designing products in other categories at our brand, designing these uniforms for golf was a first in her career.

Torrey Pines delivered again. Seventy-second hole. Birdie putt. A delirious crowd going wild for one of the pre-championship favorites.
Thirteen years ago, it was Tiger Woods who delivered the “Expect anything different” putt heard around the world.
Golf Channel put up an intriguing graphic during its Friday telecast of the 121st U.S. Open Championship. When then-50-year-old Phil Mickelson produced his age-defying victory last month in the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course, he was No. 115 in the Official World Golf Ranking. This week, that spot in the world ranking is occupied by 48-year-old journeyman Richard Bland, who just happens to share the midway lead at Torrey Pines.
Karma? Maybe.
As first impressions go, the South Course at Torrey Pines Golf Course didn’t leave a positive one on Russell Henley. A first-round 79 in the 2014 Farmers Insurance Open – which also uses the North Course here – led to a missed cut and the Georgia native opting to omit the late-January event from his annual West Coast PGA Tour itinerary.
“I don't remember [much] besides leaving the course feeling like I just got beat up,” said Henley, a three-time PGA Tour winner.
The work's been put in. Preparation is complete. And the practice rounds are over. And all that's left is to get a good night's sleep and then go after it with everything you have.
The U.S. Open begins tomorrow from Torrey Pines, and for 156 players in the field golf's toughest test awaits at dawn.

SIK Golf, developer of Patented Descending Loft Technology (DLT), today announced the introduction of a US Open Commemorative Putter, similar to the model used by Bryson DeChambeau at Winged Foot in 2020.
Just like the one Bryson games, the US Open Commemorative model ($2999.99 each) is a SIK Pro C head with alignment aid on top rather than on the flange and a traditional plumber’s neck hosel. An armlock-length LAGP shaft, fitted with a JumboMax grip identical to the one Bryson plays, also comes standard.
As the U.S. Open approaches, PUMA Golf continues its collection of exclusive TRACKS drops inspired by major tournaments with a new release, the Rocco Collection. The Rocco Collection is inspired by Rocco the Raccoon and the other lovable critters that notoriously roam the Torrey Pines course in southern California.
The collection flaunts red, white and blue color schemes and a logo of the Torrey Pines resident mascot—like the iconic Bandit polo with an all over print design of Rocco the Racoon and the Raccoon P 110 Snapback cap. Bryson DeChambeau, Chris Baker, and Justin Suh will all wear pieces from the Rocco Collection during the tournament.

The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced tee times for the first two rounds of the 2021 U.S. Open Championship, Thursday (June 17) and Friday (June 18), at 7,652-yard, par-71 Torrey Pines Golf Course (South Course), in San Diego, Calif.
The U.S. Open is a 72-hole, stroke-play competition. A field of 156 players will play 18 holes of stroke play on June 17 and 18, after which the field will be reduced to the low 60 scores and ties. Those players making the cut will play 18 holes on June 19 and 20. If there is a tie upon the completion of 72 holes, a two-hole aggregate playoff will immediately follow. If this playoff results in a tie, the tied players will immediately continue to play off hole-by-hole until the winner is determined.
Things started to get a little more serious Tuesday at Torrey Pines, as players began intensifying preparation for the 121st U.S. Open Championship.
Tuesday was the biggest interview day, and stars like Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, and defending champion Bryson DeChambeau all had interesting things to say about this championship and how they will attack the course.
A field of 156 players, including defending champion Bryson DeChambeau and favorite to win the U.S. Open Jon Rahm landed on Torrey Pines South Course today as preparations began for the 121st playing of the national championship.
The South Course will play to a par-71, and yardage is listed at 7,652. However yardage will vary each round and South can play up to 7,800+ yards, which would make it possibly the longest course in U.S. Open history.
U.S. Open week is upon us, and we're deep diving into the facts and numbers of this 121st U.S. Open Championship to get you ready for all the action from Torrey Pines.
Can Bryson go back-to-back? Does Phil really have a shot to grab the big one that's eluded him for so long? Is there a dark horse who can get it done this week? Let's jump inside the numbers.
Torrey Pines Golf South Course hosts the 121st U.S. Open Championship next week, and will be set up at 7,652 yards.
The course will play to a par of 35-36–71, and the yardage for each round of the championship will vary due to course setup and conditions.
I've taken the new Bushnell Golf Tour V5 Shift rangefinder out for testing a handful of times now. Enough to get a good idea of what it can do and start writing my review. Yesterday however, I was playing with a good friend and of course he was asking me questions about it. So I decided to just let him use mine, it would be interesting what he thinks. I had no idea it would become the intro for this review.
He was impressed, which didn't surprise me. What did surprise me was just how impressed he was. A few hours later I had a huge grin on my face when he texted me a pic of his new Tour V5 Shift. He actually went out and bought his own after our round, I kid you not.

It doesn't happen very often, but every once in awhile you try on new golf shoes, play in them for the first time, and literally have a kind of "Woah!" (out loud) moment because they're so good.
Well, after my first full round wearing the new FootJoy Flex Coastal shoes, that moment was more than just "woah, these are good." These are the most comfortable FootJoy Flex I’ve ever worn.

Players Distance irons became a big story in the equipment industry about five years ago. The idea being to combine the playability of cavity back irons with the looks of better players irons. Distance, workability, control, forgiveness, and feel are all part of the equation, but sacrifices are usually made in one area for another.
Well, Tour Edge apparently decided to take a different approach to players distance irons, one that sacrifices nothing. And their new Exotics C721 irons should be on everyone's shortlist as a candidate for best players distance irons of 2021.
The Olympic Club struck again. Just as in the five U.S. Opens contested on the club’s Lake Course, the first U.S. Women’s Open Championship played over this iconic Bay Area layout wasn’t kind to the favored final-round frontrunner.
Olympic’s list of past victims includes Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Jim Furyk and Payne Stewart, and Lexi Thompson can now be added to the remarkable list of players who have come up short in championship bids here.
Lexi Thompson has seemingly been playing U.S. Women’s Opens longer than cypress trees have framed the holes at The Olympic Club. At age 26, this is her 15th consecutive appearance since first qualifying in 2007 as a precocious 12-year-old. Yet for all that experience, the Floridian had never owned a share of the lead after any Women’s Open round.
Until now.
Golf is a game obsessed with numbers. Whether it’s the numerals we write on the scorecard or the myriad of statistics produced by sabermetric gurus, fans and media love to debate figures until our brains go on information overload.
But here are three key numbers to digest from the 76th U.S. Women’s Open Championship that don’t have to do with strokes gained, cost of the rough or greens in regulation. They are: 19-11-17, and they could be quite relatable come Sunday afternoon at The Olympic Club.
Golf Pride, a division of power management company Eaton and an industry leader in grip innovation, today announced it was the leading grip brand in play at the 2021 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf Championship.
Not only did over 92% of the field at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale rely on Golf Pride on their full swing clubs but the closest competitor was selected by less than 6% of players.
What were you doing at age 17? Working a summer job as a caddie, or taking drive-thru orders? Perhaps you were preparing for your driving test or grinding over college-entrance exams.
Megha Ganne is not a typical 17-year-old, as she illustrated in the first round of the 76th U.S. Women’s Open Championship at The Olympic Club. The Holmdel (N.J.) High School junior carded a 4-under-par 67 – one off the 18-hole amateur scoring record – to match English professional Mel Reid on a breezy, overcast Thursday a few hundred yards from the hold a share of the lead after any round of the championship.
Since the anchoring ban a few years ago, golfers have been looking to find alternative methods to improve their putting. Arm Lock is the hottest Alternative Putting option on Tour, and it's an innovative, conforming design that still retains the benefits of an anchored putter.
Now Odyssey is bringing all of these performance benefits into their new 2-Ball Ten head shape.
Supersoft has been one of the most popular balls for years, with golfers who like it so much that they won’t play anything else. Now Callaway has combined the cover, core and flight technologies to make it even better in a special new “Play Yellow” offering.
For every dozen of these golf balls sold, Callaway is proud to donate $1 to the Play Yellow Campaign benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Narrow, sloping fairways lined with antagonistic trees and ornery rough await. Viscously small greens protected by hostile bunkers will test grit and determination.
The 76th US Women’s Open starts tomorrow from The Olympic Club. And when The OC hosts a national championship... something magical always happens.
The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced the launch of the Driving Equity Grant Program to invite media outlets to expand their coverage of women’s golf by offering financial support to help alleviate any associated costs.
Ahead of the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open last December, the USGA launched “Women Worth Watching” as a long-term commitment to use its championships and platforms to celebrate female athletes and role models while promoting equality and diversity in sports. After driving awareness to the disparity in women’s sports coverage in Year One, the Driving Equity Grant Program is the organization’s next actionable solution to shrink the equality gap in golf.
Final qualifying for the 2021 U.S. Open Championship is set to begin next week, and will be conducted over 36 holes at nine different courses across the country.
For thousands of players, it will take the utmost grit and determination on "Golf's Longest Day" to join the elite few who make the field at Torrey Pines.
This is the time of year where golfers are chasing daylight, hoping to somehow slow down time so that they can maximize every minute out on the course.
Motivated by this special time of year, Adidas is introducing Solarthon, an ultra-lightweight and comfortable footwear option that’s designed to keep feet feeling fresh all day long.
Cleveland Golf, one of the industry leaders in wedge design and innovation, is proud to announce the RTX Full-Face wedge. The all-new RTX Full-Face wedge officially launches in North America on June 11, 2021.
RTX Full-Face brings full-face grooves to the flagship RTX model. This new wedge model delivers maximum short game versatility for the most demanding short game shots.
Thirteen U.S. Women's Open champions and 40 first time U.S. Women's Open competitors, ranging in age from 17 to 43 years old and representing 27 different countries descended upon the Lake Course at The Olympic Club on Monday for the 76th U.S. Women's Open.
This week will mark the 11th USGA Championship played at The Olympic Club, but the first time this prestigious club has hosted a U.S. Women's Open.
This is the 76th U.S. Women’s Open Championship and the fourth in the state of California.
The first U.S. Women’s Open, played at Spokane (Wash.) Country Club in 1946 and won by Patty Berg, was the only one conducted at match play. The Women’s Professional Golfers Association (WPGA) conducted the Women’s Open until 1949, when the newly formed Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) took over operation of the championship. The LPGA ran the Women’s Open for four years, but in 1953 asked the United States Golf Association (USGA) to conduct the championship, which it has done ever since.
The United States Golf Association (USGA) has announced tee times for the first two rounds of the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open Championship, Thursday (June 3) and Friday (June 4), at 6,457-yard, par-71 The Olympic Club (Lake Course), in San Francisco, Calif.
The U.S. Women’s Open is a 72-hole, stroke-play competition. A field of 156 players will play 18 holes of stroke play on June 3 and 4, after which the field will be reduced to the low 60 scores and ties. Those players making the cut will play 18 holes on June 5 and 6. If there is a tie upon the completion of 72 holes, a two-hole aggregate playoff will immediately follow. If this playoff results in a tie, the tied players will immediately continue to play off hole-by-hole until the winner is determined.
