CRU Golf Legacy Leather Carry Bag and Headcover Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

Golf in it's purest form has always been about enjoying the walk.  It's almost a spiritual feeling when you smell the freshly cut grass as the sun rises on the morning horizon.  When the landscape opens up and you see the pin flag for the first time whipping in the distance, you're at one with nature.

CRU Legacy Leather Carry Bag 

Okay, really where should I even begin with this bag?  There's truly so, so much to love about the Legacy. 

 

 

Subtle nuances in design along with unrivaled premium leather and workmanship arguably make CRU Legacy the creme de la creme in its class.  And yes I'm talking even better than a Jones or MacKenzie leather carry bag. 

First lets talk about the leather.  It's supple.  It's rich.  Quite frankly it's downright exemplar.  So soft you could swaddle a baby in it.  But also incredibly durable making it cart-friendly as well. 

 

 

High-stress, load bearing areas of the Legacy are double-riveted for utmost support.  While the rim around the bottom dish (or base) consists of almost three inches of double-reinforced leather.  CRU simply doesn't take any shortcuts. 

The top structure of the Legacy has two dividers and three compartments, comfortably holding a full set of clubs.  A front ball pocket, valuables pocket with waterproof zipper, beverage compartment, and full length jacket pocket lined with luxurious micro-suede allows you to carry the bare essentials or pack like a mule.  It's up to you. 

 

And oh by the way if you're wondering about the weight with all this stuff?  The CRU Legacy weighs in at under 7 pounds, that's just a few more than most regular carry and stand bags on the market. 

The shape of the bag is classic, and you can actually change it from an old school floppy look, to one that's more reinforced thanks to an internal sheath that allows you to position or remove support along the spine.  Two different appearances, one golf bag.  That's CRU ingenuity and commitment to the golfer in a nutshell.  

 

 

Speaking of the spine, CRU also designed (what I believe is) the first four ring adjustable shoulder strap so you can move the overall weight or balance point of the Legacy and change how it feels to suit your particular desires. 

Seriously, how cool is that?  And the strap itself is so generously padded even Old Tom Morris might have carried more than five clubs in his bag if he had a Legacy.   

 

 

I'm really not sure how much more you could want from a leather carry bag.  The CRU Legacy is absolute and luxurious quality.  It's clean and imposing looks with an old-school design and modern enrichment.   Additional colors maybe?  Well that's coming next year.

Before we move on I want to mention one more detail about the Legacy, and really about the CRU Golf team in general, how earnest their commitment is to you. 

I learned that CRU called every Legacy bag buyer and took the time to explain and point out all the design features so customers could fully appreciate and benefit from the many luxuries this bag offers.  That kind of customer service is no accident.  It's the DNA of who CRU is and what they represent.  And I vigorously applaud them for that.

I don't exaggerate when I tell you CRU's Legacy headcovers raise their already high bar for quality and luxury performance in a leather headcover. 

 

 

They're buttery soft to touch, and inside the micro-suede is completely sumptuous.  Add in clean piping along the sides and top, and impeccable stitching throughout and it's easy to see why these Legacy headcovers are truly fit for a king or queen.  These are designed to be enjoyed for a lifetime.

This is the kind of alignment stick cover that makes people think you know things.  Snug enough to keep your sticks in place, and they won't fall off while carrying your bag.  Easily holds two sticks with end caps and removes without effort.  

 

 

The leather is thick enough on top to not worry about sticks poking holes in the top (it happens with other brand covers, trust me).  Just supreme quality you've come to expect from CRU. 

 

 

If you're averse to receiving compliments however, you better bring your favorite headphones and avoid eye contact with everyone on the range.  These alignment stick covers are pretty damn handsome.
