True Temper Acquires Aerotech Golf

If you follow my blog and social media you already know what I think of Aerotech Golf shafts.  Their SteelFiber i and fc series shafts are unlike any other on the market.  And despite not having a heavy presence on professional Tours, Aerotech has piled up the victories, achieving professional win number 100 earlier this year. 

In fact, Aerotech has won more professional tournaments than any other graphite iron shaft.  So the news of True Temper adding Aerotech to it's stable of already extremely popular shafts makes a lot of sense. 

 

True Temper shafts dominate professional Tours, being used by 70-percent of PGA Tour players.  And purchasing Aerotech is an opportunity to strengthen its reputation as the industry leader in iron shaft innovation and manufacturing. 

Aerotech technology and design is different than virtually every other company making graphite iron shafts, and the resulting performance is a big reason for the extremely loyal Aerotech following.  If you've played Aerotech shafts, it won't come as a surprise to learn that they're one of the most requested custom fit shafts on the market. 

 

Some might be concerned that this latest True Temper acquisition might lead a monopoly of sorts in golf shafts, or at the least a disincentive to innovate.  True Temper also acquired shaft maker Accra earlier this summer. 

One thing's certain however, it will be very interesting to see how True Temper uses Aerotech's advanced technologies across all product categories, and what if any impact that will have on the market share landscape.
