The PGA Tour touches down in McKinney this week for the AT&T Byron Nelson, the final tune-up for players ahead of next week's PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.
Before we dive into the PGA Championship, history could be made as K.H. Lee won both editions of the tournament held at TPC Craig Ranch, and this week goes for the three-peat.
BetTexas.com dove into the most recent examples of a PGA Tour player winning the same event three years in a row, and whether Lee can join the club this week.
Here are their key Findings:
Only 9 golfers since World War II have won the same tournament 3 straight years in a row - 7 of those golfers are in the World Golf Hall of Fame (including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer).
The most recent golfer to accomplish this feat was Steve Stricker - who won the John Deere Classic in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
This year, Sam Burns (Valspar Championship) and Viktor Hovland (World Wide Tech. Championship) both failed to get their respective three-peats this year. Patrick Cantlay (BMW Championship) and Max Homa (Fortinet Championship) will both have the same shot as K.H. Lee later this season.
