It's been a little more than five years since I introduced many of you to the Duca del Cosma brand. And nearly to a person every one of you has raved about Duca del Cosma, calling them some of the best golf shoes you've ever worn.
This guest review comes from Andrew (@Drew_Be_Do on X) and he says new Duca Positano are "luxurious, feel like I [am] wearing nothing on my feet, [and] the quality of other shoes "doesn't even compare to the Duca top quality."
In his own words, here's what Andrew thinks about his new Duca del Cosma golf shoes.
First Impressions: As soon as I opened the lid of the shoe box, the attention to detail Duca del Cosma puts into their product was apparent. A letter from the CEO printed on the inside of the lid, Duca branded paper, Duca branded dust bag, and a pair of extra (colored) laces. Let me now forget the whiff of fresh leather that I got (and love as a sneaker head).
It’s exactly what I have come to expect from luxury brands and luxury items. As soon as I held the shoe in hand, the craftsmanship was also apparent. The quality of the leather, no glue marks around the sole, and no extra or loose threads anywhere. Pristine!
Style/Color: The Postiano’s are listed as lightweight on the Duca del Cosma website, which is one of the reasons I chose this style. Lightweight they are! I was worried because I have had other luxury shoes in the past that were made of great materials and looked stylish but were not comfortable and felt heavy on foot. I was relieved when that wasn’t the case with these. I also chose this style because I liked the sleek look, simple yet sporty but not over the top.
I went with the White/ Blue color because I felt it would be the easiest to pair with the golf clothes that I own. The look of the shoe in hand was just as I was looking at them on the website. There was no difference in coloring or the overall look. What I saw is what I got, and I appreciate that. One little detail I love is the Italian flag at the top of the tongue. It’s kind of like saying, “Yep! These are premium Italian leather.” It just adds to the luxurious nature of the shoes.
Sizing/ Feel: I am anywhere between a US Men’s size 8-9 depending on the brand and cut of the shoe (size 8 in FootJoy but size 9 in Nike). With no half sizes, I opted to go with US Men’s size 9. When I first tried them on, it felt like my heel might slip out of the back but never did. I was worried about this when wearing them during a round of golf but am happy to report it was not an issue, not even a little bit.
In fact, as the round went on, the more comfortable they got. At one point, I told my brother it almost felt like I was wearing nothing on my feet. I had ZERO issues with comfort. They felt amazing on foot!
Performance: Living in South Florida, I tend to be a “Dew Sweeper” especially during the summer months. This was also the first round I had ever played wearing a pair of spikeless golf shoes. While I can’t compare to other brands, I had ZERO issues with traction and felt connected to the ground on every shot.
I would say my only issue with the shoes (if I can even call it that) was the size of the laces. I don’t have a wide foot, so the laces felt like big bows after tying them. That’s an easy fix though and by no means would it deter me from buying another pair or recommending them to someone else.
Conclusion: All I can say is WOW! Duca Del Cosma is on to something here and other brands should take notice. Pete said that no matter which style I picked, I would want to buy others after wearing them and he was spot on! Are they pricey? Yes. But you get what you pay for and in this case, that’s top quality. They’re not much more than the FootJoy Tour Alpha shoes but the quality doesn’t even compare, especially since Duca uses real, premium leather.
I was super stoked to have won the giveaway to try them out and now I am now super stoked to have such an awesome pair of golf shoes! Huge thanks to Pete and Duca Del Cosma!
