Srixon is back in the winner’s circle, as staffer Sepp Straka earned his third PGA TOUR title at The American Express on Sunday. This win marks Srixon’s second PGA TOUR victory in January following fellow staffer Hideki Matsuyama’s triumph at The Sentry just a few weeks prior.
Equipped with Srixon’s all-new ZXi Irons and Z-STAR XV golf ball, Straka was dialed in with his equipment from the jump. Carding his first three rounds in the 60s, including two back-to-back 64s in rounds three and four, Straka never let his foot off the gas finishing the tournament at 25-under par.
He went bogey free until the 70th hole of the tournament, showcasing his precision and composure all week.
“This golf course you can’t really let up. You've still got to make really aggressive swings. You’re one swing away from a double bogey. Think that was the biggest challenge for me today. Keep being aggressive with my targets. Really excited how I handled the pressure today.”
Straka used a combination of the ZXi5 and ZXi7 Irons from Srixon to hit 83% of greens in regulation, tying for first in that category. Like Matsuyama, Straka also won using the new Z-STAR XV golf ball, offering players complete tour performance tee to green.
This victory for Srixon cements the brands proven success on Tour with equipment that continues to perform at the highest levels and at the biggest moments. In the FedEx Cup rankings, Srixon holds the top two spots with Matsuyama ranking first and Straka second.
