Tour Flex Pro Spikes Win Third Consecutive Major Championship

The U.S. Open tested the world’s greatest players to their absolute limit all week long, but just like the previous two Majors this year it was the player trusting Tour Flex Pro spikes that took the spoils of victory – securing their first Major title.

Despite getting off to a bad start on Sunday, which included a 5-over 40 on the front nine, the winner would go on to shoot an epic 3-under 32 on the back nine. This culminated with an incredible 64-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to finish the tournament at 1-under-par and two clear of his nearest challengers.

Renowned as the toughest test in golf, this year’s U.S. Open proved to be perhaps the toughest ever and that’s why 81% of the field chose to wear spikes in the undulating and wet conditions. Come the end of play it was no surprise to see that 34 of the top 38 finishers were wearing Softspikes. The win means that 24 of the last 27 PGA Tour winners have done so wearing spikes in their golf shoes.

“We are delighted to see that Tour Flex Pro once again took top spot at a Major Championship. What better venue than the treacherous Oakmont Country Club, in wet conditions, to showcase the performance advantages of having proper spikes in your golf shoes.” commented Joe Henderson, President, Softspikes.

Tour players change grips and traction regularly based on course conditions, but amateur golfers rarely think about the impact wearing spikes has on consistency and distance. To achieve optimal performance benefits, golfers should be switching up their spikes every 15 rounds.
