TPC Craig Ranch Extends Partnership with PGA Tour

Invited, the worldwide leader in private clubs, and the City of McKinney have announced an extension with the PGA TOUR to host THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch through 2030. Following the completion of this year’s tournament, the club kicked off a $22 million reinvestment project aimed at overhauling the golf course at TPC Craig Ranch.

The extension to keep the tournament at TPC Craig Ranch ensures the legacy of the event will continue to have a positive impact on the broader community.

“The extension of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch is tremendous news for McKinney,” said McKinney Mayor George Fuller. “This tournament has not only delivered significant economic benefits to our city, but it also gives us a unique opportunity to showcase McKinney to a global audience. I’m especially grateful to David Craig, whose vision decades ago – and relentless dedication ever since – made this possible. I also want to thank Invited for their continued partnership and the Salesmanship Club for their unwavering commitment to supporting families in need. Their mission aligns beautifully with our community’s values, making this tournament not just a world-class sporting event, but the right event for McKinney.”

The tournament has a long, revered history in the community, getting its start as the Texas Victory Open in 1944 which was won by today’s namesake, Byron Nelson. A Texas icon and one of the most legendary figures in professional golf, the tournament was renamed for him in 1968.

The greater Dallas market has established itself as one of the leading sports destinations in the world with McKinney helping to lead the way. In addition to serving as home to THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, Stadium. the city has hosted the NCAA’s Division II national football championship since 2018 at McKinney ISD

Salesmanship Club of Dallas is the official host organization of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Founded in 1920, Salesmanship Club of Dallas unites its more than 650 members to strengthen the mental health of children and families. Throughout the year, members focus their efforts to support Momentous Institute which is dedicated to innovative mental health services, education, and professional training to strengthen children, families, and communities.

The tournament has generated more than $190 million for Momentous Institute.

“We’re thrilled about the incredible investment Invited is making in TPC Craig Ranch,” said Jon Drago, tournament director of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in 2025. “The thoughtful redesign and enhancements envisioned by the Invited team will undoubtedly elevate the course even further. The City of McKinney and Invited continue to be outstanding partners, and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead. We can’t wait to showcase the reimagined course to players, fans, and the world next May.”

The renovation of the golf course is being led by Hall of Fame golf legend Lanny Wadkins and will completely overhaul the existing course. New turf varieties that will enhance conditions and durability will be incorporated throughout, bringing them on par with those seen at the nation’s top facilities. TPC Craig Ranch also will undergo a complete bunker redesign and repositioning to improve the strategy of play, while enhancing drainage and aesthetics. The reshaping of the greens will allow for expanded pin placement options and yield superior putting surfaces.

The renovations are the first since the club opened in 2004. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the 1973 British Open Champion and one of golf’s most respected architects, the course has long offered a balanced test of strategy, risk-reward play, and playability for a wide range of golfers. The course features dramatic elevation changes, natural creeks, and thoughtful use of the Texas landscape.

This renovation comes in the wake of Dallas native, World No. 1, and PGA Championship winner Scottie Scheffler capturing THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson with a PGA TOUR record-tying 31-under-par 253.

“Invited is proud to be known as the place for professional golf, hosting some of the premier events from various tours at our properties across the country,” said David Pillsbury, CEO of Invited. “From our history hosting top-tier events at Firestone Golf Club and Mission Hills Country Club to our ongoing work with THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, we’re proud to partner with the PGA TOUR and its partners to deliver a formidable test to the best players in the world, as well as a best-in-class experience to golf fans in Texas and beyond. I’m grateful to David Craig, the City of McKinney, the tournament team, Salesmanship Club of Dallas and the PGA TOUR for putting their trust in our team to continue to make this one of the best stops on the PGA TOUR schedule.”

Invited’s portfolio of private member clubs is designed to meet these expectations by creating refined yet welcoming environments with top of the line facilities combined with programming that promotes a sense of community and belonging.

In addition to TPC Craig Ranch, Invited also owns and operates 13 other clubs in the Dallas area, including several that have either completed or are in the midst of significant reinvestment initiatives, such as Brookhaven Country Club, Canyon Creek Country Club, Gleneagles Country Club and The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch.
