How Much Does It (Actually) Cost to Attend the 2025 U.S. Open?

As the U.S. Open from Oakmont Country Club in the western part of the Keystone State approaches nearer by the day, it’s worth wondering whether the best golfers in the world will be able to tame the 122-year-old course at PA sportsbooks. 

While we’ll know more on that front next week, PennStakes.com wanted to break down the costs associated with attending the 125th U.S. Open, breaking down the numbers on the price of tickets, parking, concessions, travel and additional expenses for the four-round event in mid-June.

The cost breakdown of attending the 125th U.S. Open varies broadly depending on the amount of travel expenses required to make it to the Pittsburgh suburbs, with locals paying anywhere from $840 (Thursday) to $1,415 (Friday) for two people to attend, while out-of-town golf fans can expect to shell out between $1,305 (Thursday) and $1,930 (Friday) for the same number of people at the event.  

In between, the fourth round ($895 for locals and $1,385 for non-locals) and third round ($1,365 for locals and $1,905 for non-locals) offer a bit of a cost reprieve for golf fans next week, though anyone that’s hoping to score a last-minute deal to attend the 10th U.S. Open at Oakmont will have to dig into their saving account to do so.

When it comes to the specific costs of attending the U.S. Open at Oakmont, one of the main reasons why out-of-town visitors have it much worse, monetarily, than locals is the cost of hotel accommodations, which run $450 a night for the round we highlighted (Saturday’s third round), while travel costs added an extra $90 to the bill.  

Those extras were enough to jack the price up for non-locals on Saturday, June 14, to $1,905, versus $1,365 for those that didn’t have to pay for a hotel or for travel costs to or from Oakmont Country Club, representing a $540 difference for those from outside the Western Pennsylvania region.  

On the course, the team at DraftKings Sportsbook Pennsylvania currently have Scottie Scheffler down as the favorite to win the 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont, with +280 odds of capturing his first U.S. Open Championship Trophy next weekend in Western Pennsylvania. Scheffler enters next week as the betting favorite, ahead of Rory McIlroy (+650), Bryson DeChambeau (+900) and Jon Rahm (+1200), as the best golfers from around the world converge upon the Pittsburgh suburbs.
