Fujikura and VENTUS Victorious Again at Tour Showdown in Houston

Fujikura - the global leader in composite golf shaft innovation - was again trusted as the number one performance shaft at the Tour event in Houston, Texas, with its flagship VENTUS line dominating the final-day leaderboard and helping power the champion to a thrilling and emotional victory.

The winner showed once again why Fujikura remains the go-to shaft for the world’s best players in the game’s biggest tournaments, remaining composed under pressure and relying on the precision, power and consistency of VENTUS on the way to a five-shot victory.

The 41-year-old from Kansas - one of the Tour’s most popular players who has endured serious health problems in recent years after undergoing brain surgery in 2023 - delivered a-near flawless display in the final round to claim his fifth Tour victory in style.

Starting Sunday’s round with a one-stroke advantage, the champion produced a masterclass in ball control - especially from the tee - to stretch his lead ahead of the chasing pack on the way to registering a new aggregate tournament record score (259).

The former Major winner - who came into the event in Houston ranked number one in driving distance on Tour this season (325.1 average against the Tour average of 302.2) - powered his way to victory using a VENTUS Black 8-X with VeloCore+ technology in his driver. A popular choice for the game’s best from the tee, the VENTUS line helps maximize clubhead stability to promote consistent center-face contact, which in turn translates to tighter dispersion and greater control.

In another showing of dominance, the brand also backed up its position as the most used driver and wood shaft with an impressive 40% of the field choosing Fujikura in their driver (8.2% ahead of the nearest competitor) with 40.2% of players trusting Fujikura in their woods (13.2% ahead of the nearest competitor).

Fujikura was also the leader in the hybrid shaft count (43.8% of the field). The victory proved timely with the opening Major Championship of the year just ten days away - with Fujikura and VENTUS eyeing more success following their ‘Clean Sweep’ by winning all four Majors in 2025.

The week in Houston was also noteworthy with the all-new VENTUS TR Black - built with enhanced VeloCore+ technology - making its Tour debut. The shaft - which was launched alongside the new VENTUS TR Red last week - is Fujikura’s stiffest and strongest yet. It was debuted by another Tour big-hitter, who led the way in driving distance in Texas with a staggering 332.47 average using a VENTUS TR Black 7-X. Meanwhile, demand for the all-new VENTUS TR line continues, with the defending champion in Houston putting a VENTUS TR Blue 7-X in play, delivering an impressive showing and finishing in a tie for third place.

The new TR profiles build on the legacy of the first-generation VENTUS TR, which was originally introduced in 2022 to offer a key point of difference to the original VENTUS.

The new construction pairs Fujikura’s cutting-edge Spread Tow material with its latest VeloCore+ material technology to deliver extra stability to help produce maximum consistency and improved energy transfer. This combination gives players more stability than ever before, especially those who tend to pull or load the shaft aggressively. Designed for aggressive swing tempos, the VENTUS TR line produces a lower launch and spin rate than the VENTUS line-up. Pat McCoy, Director of Tour Operations at Fujikura, said: “In Houston, Fujikura and VENTUS proved once again that there is no substitute for having complete faith in the power and consistency that our flagship shaft line delivers.

“On Sunday, the top of the leaderboard was dominated by players putting their faith in Fujikura and VENTUS, which is designed to elevate every player’s game. It has been an exciting week, not only for the victory but also to see our new VENTUS TR Black with enhanced VeloCore+ technology being put in play - along with the defending champion using the new VENTUS TR Blue. It sets things up nicely as momentum builds for the season with the opening Major Championship looming.”

The success in Texas was not the only celebration for Fujikura and VENTUS this weekend, with another global Tour victory coming in India. Producing a strong finish in New Delhi, the 27-year-old winner was able to close out his maiden Tour victory using a VENTUS Black 6-X in his driver; VENTUS Black 7-X in his 3-wood; VENTUS Black 9-X in his 7-wood; and a VENTUS Black 9-X in his 9-wood.
