Original Penguin Ambassador Nico Echavarría Claims Third PGA TOUR Victory at Cognizant Classic

Original Penguin®, a division of Perry Ellis International, Inc., is thrilled to celebrate Nico Echavarría’s third PGA TOUR victory at the Cognizant Classic. Demonstrating resilience, poise and skill, Nico delivered a bogey-free weekend for a two-shot victory. With the Win Nico earned $1.728 million-the biggest check of his young career.

Hailing from Colombia, Nico embodies the spirit of Original Penguin as a true lifestyle brand — one that seamlessly transitions from the course to everyday life. Known for its iconic heritage and modern point of view, Original Penguin outfits Nico not only for competition but for travel, work and off-course moments as well. Throughout the week, he wore a full assortment from the Spring 2026 collection, showcasing the brand’s versatility and refined style both inside the ropes and beyond them.

We are thrilled to celebrate Nico’s third PGA TOUR victory at the Cognizant Classic,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, CEO and President of Perry Ellis International. “Nico’s performance was composed, confident and fearless. He represents the next generation of golfers who view style as an extension of who they are — on and off the course. Original Penguin is more than golf apparel; it’s a lifestyle brand rooted in heritage, individuality and modern refinement. We are proud to see Nico wear the full assortment so effortlessly wherever the game and life take him.”

With the win, Echavarría jumped up to 6th in the FedExCup standings, 34th in the Official World Golf Rankings and secured a spot in the 2026 Masters.

“It was a blessing today, I didn’t have my best off the tee but was able to manage my game and sometimes you need to have good breaks to win out here,” stated Echavarría. “I didn’t start the year off the way I wanted to but told my wife and financial advisor on Monday that I was going to win.  We closed on our new house on Tuesday so I’m happy with how it went.”

A key staple in Nico’s rotation is the Original Penguin Player Pant — a modern essential designed to move effortlessly between golf, business and travel. Tailored yet comfortable, the Player Pant delivers a polished look with all-day wearability, making it as ideal for a Monday meeting or cross-country flight as it is for Sunday contention. The pant has quickly become a favorite among players and fans alike for its elevated fit and unmatched versatility.

On Sunday, Nico’s winning look also featured the Archives Micro Geo Polo in Malibu Blue, while Saturday’s round showcased the Framed Floral Polo in Lichen — each reflecting the brand’s signature blend of heritage-inspired design and contemporary style.

Original Penguin continues to define modern golf lifestyle apparel — proving that performance and polish are not mutually exclusive, but inseparable.

For over 70 years, Original Penguin, and its namesake icon Pete the Penguin, has been adorned and adored by the masters of leisure and sport to define itself as an American classic. Today, the Penguin icon still stands as a signal for those who know how to be an original and what you wear for the good times.
