Pretty soon Bridgestone's "Smiling Assassin" is going to be known more for the assassin part than the smile Kuchar seems to always have on his face. Kuchar's victory at Waialae Country Club also made Bridgestone's Tour B family of balls the winningest golf ball on Tour over the last five months.
Kuchar also showcased pinpoint accuracy on approach, cutting shots through the Hawaiian tradewinds to hit an incredible 83-percent of the greens at Waialae (good for first place in the field). And on those rare occasions when Kuchar didn't hit the green, he still got up-and-down 75-percent of the time.
For the week, Kuchar carded four rounds in the 60s (63, 63, 66, 66) for a tournament best 22-under par. In addition to the Tour B X ball, Kuchar relied on the following Bridgestone equipment in his dominating Honolulu performance:
Tour B JGR 9.5* Driver
Tour B XD-H 18* 2 Hybrid
J15 CB Irons (5 - PW)
J40 52* Wedge
All told Kuchar recorded Top-10 finishes in Birdies, Eagles, Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee, Strokes Gained: Approach-The-Green, Strokes Gained: Tee-To-Green, Strokes Gained: Putting, and Strokes Gained: Total.
I told you back in December that Bridgestone is a company you want to seriously keep your eye on in 2019, as they're designing equipment and balls that deliver premium tee-to-green performance not just for their Bridgestone Tour professionals, but also for amateur golfers with varying swing types like you and me.
Bridgestone is firing on all cylinders right now, and I can't wait for the PGA Show next week to show you a hands-on, closer look at their entire range of products.
