Adidas 2019 TOUR360 XT and TOUR 360 XT SL Shoes Preview: A Legend Reborn

Adidas is taking performance golf footwear to the next level with their new Tour 360 franchise that features the totally redesigned TOUR360 XT (featuring the highest-performing cleated outsole the brand has ever made), the TOUR360 XT SL (the first-ever spikeless version of the TOUR360 in the history of the iconic shoe), and the TOUR360 XT SL BOA (a spikeless BOA version).

The new footwear derives its name from the X-shaped traction system (X-Traxion) on the outsole, which provides multi-directional grip throughout the swing.  These X-shaped lugs provide more stability than ever before, and react with better traction through uneven lies due to their eight-sided touch points with the ground.  You'll feel more locked in throughout the swing the lugs react to any conditions you might encounter, and the result is an exceptional grip without any sacrifice of comfort.

TOUR360 XT SL ($170)
The TOUR360 XT SL is the first highly technical spikeless TOUR360 that adidas has ever made, and aims to change the definition of what a performance golf shoe can be.  For players who want a shoe that’s extremely comfortable, yet still provides the stability and traction needed for the golf swing, the TOUR360 XT SL is your answer.

The entire outsole features the X-Traxion lug system, strategically placed so players get the comfort of spikeless while still maintaining the grip they expect from a high-performance shoe.  The X-shape lugs vary in height, which allows for some lugs to go deeper into the ground and help increase overall traction.

The shoe also features the X-Torsion system through the midfoot to provide more stability and control throughout the swing.  The X-Torsion system features an X-shape, which is visible through the TPU outsole and connects the heel and forefoot.

And full-length BOOST in the midsole, provides unparalleled energy return and even more comfort throughout the round.  The TOUR360 XT SL comes in four colorways with a one-year waterproof warranty, and aims to change the game of spikeless performance footwear.

Adidas Golf Global Footwear Director, Masun Denison says,
"We wanted to make the highest performing spikeless shoe in the industry.  So we tested all shapes and configurations and found that the X-shape, along with a rubberized TPU outsole, provided unmatched grip, stability, flexibility and performance.  The X-shape also increases ground contact and provides more comfort on all surfaces."

TOUR360 XT ($200)
The TOUR360 XT is completely redesigned, and one of the key features is the new TPU outsole.  Adidas implemented a new eight-spike execution in combination with the X-Traxion secondary lugs for additional grip and stability.

And by removing two spikes from the previous model, this increased flexibility and comfort while decreasing overall weight.

BOOST cushioning has also been re-engineered from heel to toe.  BOOST pieces in the heel and forefoot are now slightly wider and move through larger expansion holes on the bottom to improve both stability and comfort.  So now the new BOOST cushioning has a lower-profile execution for improved aesthetics while also giving players a better feel with the ground.

Underneath the 3-Stripes in the TOUR360 XT, Adidas also implemented a new forging technique by heating that portion of the upper to increase stability in the midfoot while also reducing overall weight of the shoe.  XT features a rich premium leather upper that comes with a two-year waterproof warranty, and will be available in four colorways.

TOUR360 XT SL BOA ($180)
The TOUR360 XT SL BOA features all the benefits of the TOUR360 XT SL, but is highlighted by the L6 BOA closure system on the tongue for easy customizable micro-adjustability.  A new INSITE sockliner (featured in all three models) improves stability and balance by cupping the heel to also promote better posture.

The TOUR360 XT SL BOA comes with a premium microfiber leather upper and a one-year waterproof warranty, and will be available in two colorways.

The TOUR360 XT and TOUR360 XT SL come in both medium and wide options, while the TOUR360 XT BOA comes in a medium-wide fit.

All three models feature improved aesthetics, more forefoot width, and a slightly lower ceiling, and will be available exclusively online at Adidas.com on January 28th, and on February 1st at select retailers worldwide.

  1. Great review!! I own an older pair of Adidas ADIZERO spikes I love. The feel and fit is snug and very molding around the feet. Weird question...did they discuss any other shapes for the X lugs? Adidas has crosstrainers with a diamond lug bottom of various heights. The grip and traction was incredible when I wore them. Thanks.
