Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 Grips Review: PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway

There's an expression in life that says you can't please all of the people all of the time, but I'm not sure the folks at Golf Pride grips buy into that.  More than 80-percent of players on Tour use Golf Pride grips, and they aren't even endorsed to do so.

Of all Golf Pride grips, their Tour Velvet is the most popular.  And this year all four majors were won by Tour Velvet grips.  Tour Velvet 360 is the latest model in this blue-ribbon line, and I've learned also their finest.

We all know grips have a huge impact on the feel, comfort, and performance of your clubs in different weather conditions, and the Tour Velvet 360 deliver in spades.

They're exceptionally comfortable in both wet and dry conditions, but designed for non-slip traction above all else.  This year on humid days, rainy days, and hot summer days traction was never an issue for me.  Granted, a cord grip is theoretically going to give you the most traction possible.  But from my experience playing Tour Velvet 360, there aren't any scenarios where I wouldn't completely trust this grip.  And you saw how they performed for this year's Open Champ on that final day with terrible weather.

Tour Velvet 360 are also probably a bit softer feeling than the original Tour Velvet, and seem to have a bit more traction (I'd even call them a bit tackier with more shock absorption).  Traction was excellent on wedge shots where we need our hands softest and pressure lightest, as well as those times off the tee when I wanted to swing out of my shoes and bomb a drive as long as possible.

And this may be a subjective thing, but Tour Velvet 360 also feel like they fit the contours of my hands better, and that translates to a heightened perception of where my club is during the swing.  Whatever Golf Pride's secret mixture is with material and design, it works, plain and simple.

These grips aren't going to deliver the same kind of feedback you get in a firmer, cord grip.  But most players will find there's enough feedback to balance comfort and sensation, and that's why they're the go-to grips for so many players.

And for players suffering from hand or bone pains, Tour Velvet 360 are pretty much going to be ideal  The surface texture and rubber compounds combine for one of the softest grips you'll find on the market today.  And the reliable performance delivers peace of mind.

The name 360 means these grips are going to look the same no matter how you install them.  And for the obsessive-compulsive among us, that means no more agonizing over the iconic Golf Pride logo being just right and in the same position on every club.  Instead you're getting those double rings on the top and bottom of your grips, and the look is identical throughout your bag.

All-weather control, consistent traction, and remarkably comfortable feel?   It's really no wonder these grips are pretty much the choice of most golfers, professional and amateur everywhere.  And for me at least, the legendary Tour Velvet has just become more legendary with the Tour Velvet 360.

PROS:
Comfort and traction is outstanding and reliable
Withstands all weather conditions
High quality and long life-expectancy (won't deteriorate or wear out quickly).

CONS:
Some might miss seeing the iconic Golf Pride logo
For maximum feedback firmer and cord grips are better options
