Cobra LTDx Irons Review - Making You Fall in Love with Game Improvement Irons Again

Cobra Golf isn't just making a splash in the game-improvement irons category in 2022.  They're going all out cannonball with their new KING LTDx irons.  Feel, sound, distance, and forgiveness have all been re-engineered giving golfers everything Cobra can possibly give you.

I've taken my New Cobra LTDx irons out handful of time now.  Some tough courses including Pinehurst No. 2, NCR Country Club, and my hometown Manakiki.  And I can say conclusively LTDx are one of the longest, massively forgiving, straightest irons out today.  Hands down.

LTDx irons feel is solid, stand out really.  And some will say almost approaching a forged feel to them.  Exceptional job by Cobra.  You can read about the LTDx tech here, but the gist on feel is a new polymer dampens vibrations (and actually also enhances the elastic rebound effect of the face) for a denser, softer sensation at impact.

Going back to forgiveness, LTDx are irons that just want to go straight.  And they have one of the largest hitting areas of any irons I’ve played where distance, accuracy, and even trajectory remains consistently good (with a caveat on trajectory, more on that below).

In fact, compared to Cobra's last gen RADSPEED, LTDx expands the thin area of the face by almost 25-percent (which expands your zone for maximum ball speed).  And that zone delivers more consistent distance on off-center hits.

If you hit it all over the face, there aren’t many better irons out there than LTDx to keep your worst shots as good as they can possibly be.  Honestly these could be almost saviors for inconsistent ball strikers.

Trajectory is boring, but it’s still high enough to hold most greens.  I saw most greens because you’re getting lower spin and peak height than players irons and even players distance irons.  And some approaches at Pinehurst No. 2 ate my lunch. Hey is what it is, lol.

With that said however, LTDx actually delivers more height, spin, and better descent than most other GI irons I’ve played.  And for most courses a majority of us play, you hit the greens with LTDx and have enough height and sharp enough decent to hold them.

Appearance wise LTDx is slimmed down compared to RADSPEED.  A thinner topline gives LTDx a more powerful look, and some of the weight saved was moved lower to help launch shots higher (particularly on mishits).  In one way, shape, or form, everything about the LTDx irons was improved in pursuit of the perfect blend of forgiveness, high launch, exceptional feel, and longest total distance.

If you’re a precision iron player who likes to work the ball these are probably not going to be the first irons you look at.  However if you’re out there wanting to mainly just hit greens, certainly get more distance from all your irons, and have many of your mishits keep you on line and on target, few are better than LTDx.

One of my favorite game improvement irons I've played, Cobra or otherwise.  And one of the best game-improvement irons of 2022.  Cobra clearly engineered LTDx for total performance, holding nothing back.  And LTDx are going to make a lot of players fall in love with game-improvement irons again.
