PUMA Golf disrupts sport culture by fusing golf and basketball at The Rocket Mortgage Classic this week in Detroit. The launch features a green turf basketball court complete with baskets, where fans will be able to shoot some hoops while watching the PGA Tour event.
The brand took over Area 313 on the course at Detroit Golf Club by building a basketball court on Hole 17. PUMA athletes Rickie Fowler, Justin Suh, Jason Dufner, and NBA Slam Dunk Contest Winner Mac McClung, kicked off the week by playing a game of knockout on the court.
The game was hosted by NBA All-Star and Miami Heat in-game area host, Dale McLean aka “Uptown Dale.” During the event, the athletes paired up with kids from The First Tee of Detroit to challenge each other on the court. Rickie Fowler coming out on top, won the two-ball basketball competition in partnership with one of the First Tee kids.
The fan experience was followed by autographs and photos. Mac McClung was seen later in the week bringing excitement to the brand space by challenging golf fans to basketball challenges.
