New 2025 Cobra DS ADAPT Driver (Choose ANY Model, LS, X, MAX K, or MAX D): 2025 PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway DAY 1

It's the first club you pull from the bag to start your round.  It sets the tone for the day.  And when you get a hold of it?  Divot Free Zone bragging rights baby!  I'm talking about the driver of course and one of the best drivers of 2025 was the Cobra DS ADAPT.

I reviewed the DS ADAPT X model driver for you earlier this year.  And there are four models in the DS ADAPT family in addition to the X, including the LS, MAX K, and MAX D.  They're all absolute BOMBERS.  And in DAY 1 of my PGAPappas 12 Days of Christmas Golf Giveaway one of you can choose ANY DS ADAPT model driver you want.  Right or Left handed.  Just head on over to the Cobra website and see what dexterities, lofts, (stock) shafts, and flexes are available and ORDER ONE UP!

I'm going to highlight a few key things about all four DS ADAPT driver models here to help you decide what's best for you.  Think of it like a mini-comparative review for Kringle purposes.

I hit the LS, X, and MAX K at Club Champion recently just to get some feedback on how they compare for you.  They didn't have the MAX D for me to hit so in that section I'll just tell you a few general things about it and how I think it would perform for certain types of players.

Cobra DS ADAPT LS Driver

As you probably know LS stands for low spin and this driver will be the lowest spinning and lowest launching model in the Cobra DS ADAPT family.  It's also the smallest head (445 cc) of all the DS ADAPT drivers (460 cc) but don't be mistaken into thinking LS is only for fast swingers or better players.

I did in fact get my highest ball speed with the DS ADAPT LS but really only marginally more than with my DS ADAPT X.  I prefer low spin drivers primarily because they're usually the most compact shape (like LS is compared to the other three DS ADAPT drivers).  Worth mentioning, LS does sit a bit open at address unlike the other three models.

Spin with the DS ADAPT LS however is significantly lower than with the other three drivers.  LS has almost 500 RPM less spin than my X and about 800 (and at times up to 1000) RPM less spin than with MAX K.  I'm assuming MAX D will be the highest spinning driver in the DS ADAPT family.  On toe misses LS is even lower spinning than the other drivers which may not be ideal if that's your miss and don't have a fast swing speed.  But at the same time LS launches pretty easily and surprisingly has a slightly left flight bias (for me) which would help many mid-handicaps who tend to miss right.

Cobra DS ADAPT X Driver

One of the interesting things about the Cobra DS ADAPT X is its shape.  Although it's 460 CC like the MAX K and MAX D it actually looks smaller than these drivers.  It doesn't look as small as the LS but close enough that I still felt in my comfort zone with X from the very first time I addressed a ball.

Probably the biggest surprise with the DS ADAPT X was how center biased my grouping of shots were.  MAX K had the tightest dispersion of all drivers for me (more on that below).  But X starts more center than MAX K and my groupings of shots are more centered with misses left and right (compared to MAX K where misses all grouped center to left of center).  MAX X starts off more left and stays more left than X.  Although X distance is a tad shorter for me than LS (say about 5 yards), the X accuracy and dispersion is something I can't ignore (again, see below about dispersion in Final Thoughts).

As mentioned above X spins about 500 RPM more than LS and if you're an average swing speed player (say low 90 mph or below) you'll probably get more distance from X than LS if you need a touch more spin to keep it in the air longer.  Launch and peak height with X is also closer to LS than it is with MAX K so this still delivers a very piercing ball flight.

Cobra DS ADAPT MAX K Driver

MAX K is Cobra's 10,000 MOI driver, meaning it's massively forgiving especially if you hit it all over the face.  And it's incredibly consistent with the tightest dispersion of all DS ADAPT drivers.  In fact it has one of the tightest dispersions of any drivers I've hit and tested this year.

Toe miss spin consistency was much better with MAX K compared to LS (which as mentioned above just plummets).  And let's be honest if you're missing on the toe most golfers probably need more spin to maintain distances closer to center strikes.  Max K also has a slight draw bias like LS did for me.

Ball speed with the MAX K is about 2-3+ MPH less than both LS and X.  So MAX K was 10 yards shorter than the longest LS for me.  But in return?  You get that all over the face forgiveness.  So we're talking really about what you need more of in LS vs. MAX K.  MAX K is also the highest launching driver in the DS ADAPT family with the highest peak height.  MAX K was about 35 to 40 feet higher in the air than LS.  Hugely beneficial is you're an average swing speed player but for higher speeds LS is probably the way to go.

Cobra DS ADAPT MAX D Driver

MAX D is Cobra's DS ADAPT draw bias driver and pics on their site show it appears neutral to slightly closed at address (opposite to how the LS sits at address).  I'd expect MAX D to be a driver that goes left all day and really takes the right side out of play.  Probably a great driver if you're a slicer but if you already hook the ball look to LS or X.

Final Thoughts on All Models

In their own right the Cobra DS ADAPT LS, X, and MAX K are all bombers.  In terms of dispersion however MAX K was a clear winner.  Dispersion was tightest both left-to-right and downrange compared to LS and X.  In fact it was almost twice as tight as the next best X dispersion.  Just incredibly consistency.

LS had slightly better left-to-right dispersion than X with more left bias (X had misses equally left and right of center).  But X had slightly better downrange dispersion than LS.  I got my best ball speed and spin consistency with X and best launch consistency with MAX K.

And a quick word on Cobra's FutureFit33 adjustability.  It's not only the most comprehensive loft and lie optimizer in the industry, it's also the most intuitive and easiest to use.  Although granted with so many options to dial in launch, speed, and control it can take some patience and trial and error.  But if you're the type to geek out on customization settings FutureFit33 is as good as it gets.

Remember you always have three different ways to win the daily gifts in my giveaway this year.  And if you miss a day don't worry.  You can enter ANY of the DAY Giveaways anytime throughout the entire 12 Days of Christmas.

  24. WOW Pete, what a great start to this year's 12 Days! I could definitely use an update to the top of my bag, the current driver has three long year round seasons on it already, and one of the Cobra DS ADAPT Drivers would be a great update. Not sure if the X or the MAX K would be best for me, but I'm sure either would work.

  27. Love how you broke down LS vs X vs MAX K here – 445cc LS for low-spin speed, X with that super center-biased dispersion, and the 10,000 MOI MAX K as the all-over-the-face safety net. Basically turns this into a choose-your-own-adventure driver fitting. As an average swing-speed player who drifts out on the toe more than I’d like, MAX K is screaming my name, but any DS ADAPT in the bag would be instant Divot Free Zone bragging rights. What a Day 1 hammer. #ReleaseTheKringle #JingleBAM

  32. I have read a ton of amazing thing about this driver line and would love to try them. Thinking maybe the X would be my best fit and love that it appears to have a smaller footprint than other 460cc drivers. Definitely ready for an upgrade to my almost 4 year old Stealth. #ReleaseThe Kringle
